*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Yeah, quite a big contrast. In Southee's case he had already played in some ODI's against England before going to the 2008 under 19 WC, won player of the tournament, then made his test debut against England on his return. Anderson and Kane had played first class cricket. McMillan, Taylor, Ryder...

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

They usually produce at least one international and several domestic players. Ones that stand out are the 1989 side that toured England and won their 'test' series. A guy from that side told me that Cairns bowling to Ramprakash in that series was the fastest bowling he's seen live. Aside from...

***Official*** Under-19 World Cup- South Africa 2024

They mentioned rest and rotation as the reason for leaving out Rowe. I thought Stackpole looked pretty good with the bat against Pakistan. Styris thought this team didn't have the same kind of experience in terms of under 19 games as some of the other sides. I think a few of the top run scorers...

This commentator has impressive knowledge about the background of the players. Clearly has been chatting with the parents who are there following the tournament. Interesting comparison of Schroeder's bowling style to Neil Wagner.

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

The moment the Aces clinched it. Dolph Lundgren would have been a great all-rounder I'm sure.

Still can't believe they tried to settle it with a wrestling match.

*Official* 2024 South Africa tour of New Zealand: 2 tests

So there is no scorecard for this warm up match?

Good point - we haven't toured there since 2012-13 when we were rolled for 45?

Yeah, I'm surprised the difference between Sky and Spark wasn't greater. The numbers on TVNZ look excellent. And the Black Clash, although a light hearted affair, is a great way to promote the game to a wider audience.

Going to Foo Fighters tomorrow? Not overly disappointed Canterbury won. A lot of promising young players and McConchie seems like a good ****.

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

Yeah, he was a very handy ODI player and although not suited to the opening role did manage back to back centuries in that 2013 test we nearly won at Eden Park against England.

I think Wells made some comments after the Bangladesh tests essentially defending Nicholls' overall record which suggested they might retain him for the home summer. Clearly behind the scenes though the Bangladesh series was his last chance. Hard to see Nicholls regaining his spot barring...

Arguably, Mark Ramprakash had 5/5 successful ashes series

Hick also did pretty well in the Ashes. Should have played the 97 series imo.

Haha, I didn't even notice the hapless 6th victim was barely taller than the stumps. Watched with the sound on - "have a slash at it bro". Classic stuff.

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

Not sure where he went after his banning. His ND intel was interesting although taken with a grain of salt. He certainly was certainly right about Wagner becoming a successful test player when it was looking uncertain.

I expect Conway to score bucket loads of runs against South Africa.

A disappointing end to Rutherford's career. At least he can share a beer with Raval who came onto the scene at the same time. Both played test cricket and have been domestic stalwarts. I was also looking to forward to seeing Jamal Todd and Parkes who Otago belatedly selected.

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

Opening the batting in Super Smash is probably quite a step up, all the attacks have either current or fringe Black Caps. A number of other openers have struggled. Speaking of club cricket I watched a guy get a ton for Onslow yesterday in the Hazlett Trophy final. It turns out he's an overseas...

Macewell and Nicholls can also keep wicket.
