Some delicious wickets by Rowe in his 5-fer, but most of the rest of them were by braindead batting by the Afghans.
Yeah Rowe's two bowleds to the right handers were great - nice pace and outswing.

Looked like very swingy conditions - half of the NZers out to mystery spin seemed to be beaten by pronounced drift/swing as much as anything else.

If this mankad is cool the ICC should unban fake fielding too. Maybe we could get fielders running interference across the pitch while the bowlers bowl as well, think of the opportunities.

That said it was pretty dozy from the NZ batter to fall for that.

Yeah, I've watched it now - that's fair enough. If you've got two runs to play with, you don't want a batsman stealing any advantage. I will say in defence of the batsman that it's just not a thing in New Zealand. You literally don't think about it. But that generation especially, if they're playing internationally, will have to. It's not stigmatised in other parts of the world.

Watching the YouTube highlights.

Delicious is right. That kid has a beautiful action and shape, putting in a very good case to be included in the SteveNZ XI at a young age. Apparently he took six wickets in an over earlier in the year, too. And is Hannah Rowe's cousin. Love a bloodline. And holy hell, Jerry Coney's grandson batted 3.

The Afghans had some pretty ***y spin bowling going on, as well. Feel like they would've bowled us out for 50 if they'd been able to targets the stumps more.

Yeah, they have footage of one of the dismissals here.

The 6th wicket was a doozy. Batsman looks 10, not a massive appeal, umpire wants to be part of history, Rowe doesn't look all that excited, to be honest, to have taken six wickets in an over. But I like a humble hero

Haha, I didn't even notice the hapless 6th victim was barely taller than the stumps. Watched with the sound on - "have a slash at it bro". Classic stuff.

Are Scotland some kind of bogey team for us at all levels? Today they have played and missed at around 40% of the deliveries and yet they are 114/1 after 28 overs!

Isaiah Thorne looks like one of those bowlers who will have hot spells followed by unbelievably wild spells. I have seen him bowl terrifyingly quickly for his age (easily 145kph plus) but here he looks around 140kph and is all over the place.

On the other hand the less heralded Raneico Smith looks pacey and really good!

We are 3 down with just 60 on the board.

They might beat us
It feels like they will always beat us. One of the luckiest 50 overs I have seen, so many edges and plays and missing. Had our guys very frustrated.

It is good to see our guys actually playing some shots. It feels like Sammy has had a word and said we want an aggressive brand of cricket and the youths are trying it.

A good start from Dindyal and he throws it away.

NZ have played their entire squad (I think) over the 2 games. Beating Nepal means the pressure was off as guaranteed to make super 6 (really should be called not-that-super 12s in a 16 team tournament)
See my earlier post about the format. Every match matters…
