    2024–25 NZ domestic season

Yes, usually needing 100 off 50 balls even with 8 wickets in hand would seem unlikely but at Pukekura Park CD might be favourites.

    2024–25 NZ domestic season

Interesting, I see he got 61 off 50 balls today for ND A and is in his last year at school. Seem like a player to keep an eye on. https://www.cambridgenews.nz/2024/04/bell-shows-tons-of-promise/

    2024–25 NZ domestic season

Looks like a good ton by all-rounder Josh Brown for ND A. 19 yr old Ewald Schreuder who debuted for ND last year with a couple of wickets for CD A. Looks like Christian Leopard is back playing for them too. https://scoring.nzc.nz/?tab=m_scorecard#md7d79199-b671-49c7-bfaa-235f1b50b2fb

*Official* New Zealand tour of India 2024

Yeah, ultimately Young played so well that Williamson wasn't missed. Lucky to have someone that can slot in and play that well under pressure.

O'Rourke has kind of taken on the Jamieson role. Added a real cutting edge to the attack. It's a tough call. Last time they won in India Martin Crowe was out injured too.

Bad I guess. They say cricket wise not as much.

*Official* New Zealand tour of India 2024

The first NZ win in India was pretty incredible too. Best batsman Crowe unavailable. Hadlee 6 wickets in the first innings and Bracewell with 6 wickets in the second. https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/new-zealand-tour-of-india-1988-89-62135/india-vs-new-zealand-2nd-test-63494/full-scorecard

A friend messaged me a similar prediction this morning.

Recovering from a back injury. Hopefully will be back sometime during NZ home summer.

New Zealand doom and gloom thread

It still irks me thinking what a difference Wagner might have made in that third test, especially after Lyon was infamously given not out by the third umpire. The first D/N test too. That series was actually fairly successful relative to the 2019 disaster. Kane was at his absolute peak and...

Yes, they provide a reasonable explanation for picking him. I guess other candidates could have included Tom Bruce or Rob O'Donnell but Chapman's experience and record against spin stands out. Williamson is getting to the Crowe stage where he is increasingly injury prone it seems. By the same...

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Yeah, I think Southee had better captaincy instincts than those two who are probably more conservative in their approach to captaincy and batting (obv). A shame it coincided with his form dropping off after a reasonable revival where he outperformed Boult.

Southee's record as captain - I think that nail biting win over England last year was the high point. Played: 14 Won: 6 Lost: 6 Drawn: 2

Is there some alternative version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where Augustus Gloop is a hero?

New Zealand doom and gloom thread

He apparently suffered a back injury on the tour to the Windies in 2002. That was the first tour after he had made his successful test debut in the third test against England at the end of the home summer. Shane Bond returned from injury and the other seamer position went to Ian Butler while...

Phillips's all-round performances were impressive too although frustrating he couldn't bring up a maiden century. The first test was relatively close, but for the Mitchell run-out who knows how it might have turned out.

I don't know if a pace bowler has ever been a side's first slip but Southee is probably the best slip fielder in the side now? Might as well put him there if they are going to keep picking him.

Tim Robinson opens. Jacob Cumming or Thorne Parkes might be options in time.

Hate to bring it up but this is the guy who ducked the last ball of the innings in a WC final.

I wish Phillips was batting higher.
