Yes, we'll see how sound he is, when he opens against the likes of McGrath, Gillespie and Lee.
The way you're just writing him off....can you point out some oh so major chinck in his technique that he will fail so horribly, or for that matter his mental approach and ability to learn? Can you say why the talent he's showcased in ODIs may not suceed in Tests?(No not that Tests and ODIs difference crap, Why such a talented batsman will fail). Can you tell me why the team management will put faith in him for the opening slot ahead of such a crucial tour, where the last thing you need is bad planning? It's clear, everyone sees it, his talent and ability. You dont.

Hype.

BTW, I never once said Yuvraj doesn't have a sound technique, I just compared him with Flintoff.

IMO,

Bowling: Flintoff >>> Yuvraj
Batting: Flintoff = Yuvraj
Fielding: Yuvraj > Flintoff

Which tilts it towards Flintoff.
Dude are you actaully English? ;) because I think every proud Indian supporter will have understood Yuvraj's ability. Let me put it the way it is -

Bowling: Flintoff much better than Yuvraj (though Yuvraj is handy)
Batting: Yuvraj has loads more talent than Flintoff
Fielding: Flintoff is excellent at slips, but he's not in Yuvi's league who's one of the best fielders and catchers in the world.

LOL, I understand his ability.

He has made it to the side, he has to be good.

But you don't see the point that he's unreliable yet (I'm not writing him off) and that's why I compared him with Flintoff, who has been more successful with everything he does.

This switch I suggested was not because Yuvraj is that bad (which he isn't, but he's not the best either to be hyped so much), but because Flintoff is better.

Yeah so I wouldn't want to switch them till Yuvi is proven unreliable because I see awesome things for him.

While I see average, or maybe a little better than average.

SARCASM!

LOL, did I use the words - "Yuvraj doesn't have a sound technique."?
There wasn't a hint of sarcasm in it.:) And it wasn't very funny, and it did suggest that Yuvi may fail against them.

So what? Yuvraj is far more talented with the bat. If he fails in tests like you're hoping for, we'll see then.
Based on what is he far more talented?

The averages don't seem to say that.

So because he's Indian he's not allowed to have an opinion that isn't that the Indian is the better?!

1)incase you havent been watching flintoff bat he has a better technique than yuvraj, all his problems are purely temperamental which in the recent past he has clearly improved and so hes scored more. btw remind me what yuvraj did when he played county cricket in england? so dont go around thinking that because he came out of pakistan with an average of 50 that hes going to play brilliantly in other conditions.....
2)yuvraj is a better batsman than flintoff despite the fact that they have similar ODI averages?

flintoff has a pathetic average in the subcontinent..
whereas yuvraj did do well in australia.
i cant believe u said flintoff has better technique than yuvraj. Flintoff can be a handful batter, but no way is he a top-class batter. I know there is no stats to prove this, but Yuvraj will definitely be a great batsman, and if he doesn't i'll happily eat my words :p .... Flintoff on other hand will always be an all-rounder..

Yuvraj averaged something between 8 and 10 in half a season with Yorkshire.

I can understand if you missed it, because there wasn't much to see...

Getting Flintoff is not a bad idea, but why Yuvraj? Why not Badani, Kaif or Rohan? And why not a bowler?

And of course, it's inconceivable he could have improved isn't it?

What was his score in the 3rd Test vs SL?
