yes because of some of those very convincing reasons you've mentioned earlier.....

These changes would make the England team:

Trescothick
Strauss
Tendulkar
Vaughan
Thorpe
Flintoff
G,Jones
Pollock
Anderson
Harmison
Murrali
is this supposed to be the test or ODI team?

two words - jacques kallis. great record in general and even better in subcontinent. he can replace any one in the indian team other than dravid and sachin.

I was talking about a genuine no. 6.

allrounder who averages 5(with bat) where we need to play 50% of matches and career bowling avg of 40. no thanks.
Oh, the folly of looking at the numbers and not the player...

Flintoff 5 out of 9 are aganist BAN or ZIM
Yuv 3 out of 7 are aganist BAN OR ZIM

so both of them have 4 aganist decent teams and yuvraj has 2 aganist australia

their carrer avg is almost identical @ 30.70 yuv and 30.17 flintoff

but their record aganist test palying nation except ZIM and BAN is
28 and 25.45 sligtly better for yuv so y should u change him with Flintoff

Yes, and with the ball?

Would you give Yuvraj even 2 or 3 overs regularly (rather than Flintoff who will bowl his full compliment for on average 40-45 runs and 1 or 2 wickets)

have you looked at flintoff's stats. you cant get a worse player for indian conditions. he's a good allrounder but not for india.
Which you base on a few games before he established himself as the player he is now.

Good basis for an argument, but have you seen his averages in Tests over the past 12 months?

I believe it's something like 45 with the bat and 32 with the ball...

may be, but not good enough to be in indian team

Because the Indian side is packed full of pace bowlers who can average 24 in a series in the most spin-conducive pitches around!

since u want flintoff in indian test team u will have to trade him with
some one else as yuvraj is not a sure of his place in india test team
Any of the seam bowlers? :p

ok. the "recently" part of it isnt quite correct but still proves my point that he ist any better in odi's either.
So the fact he's ranked around 20 with the bat and in the top 10 with the ball is irrelevant?!

I would wager that just about any side would welcome Flintoff into their team if he were qualified to play for them.

Cairns is a strike bowler who can bat, and bat really well. Flintoff is a middle overs bowler, where he can stay safe, so his average is marginally better, but play him as a lead bowler and things will change.

Whick is why he is usually our first change bowler (occasionally opening the bowling) and only Harmison is taking more wickets than him in recent times...

Yes, his bowling is so good!!!
Yuvi is better with the bat and in the field. Flintoff is better with the ball (though Yuvi is pretty useful). Flintoff is no doubt better, but he's probably the lone English player who we might exchange.

Yuvraj and Sehwag bowl in ODIs fairly regularly. In tests Yuvi can bowl a few tight overs and maybe even break partnerships. He's pretty handy.

Erm, Harmison?

Sorry to disappoint you dear. Pathan is a vital bowler for us and purely on bowling we'd have Pathan and also Zaheer. Flintoff may contribute with the bat but we don't need him so much as a batsman as we do his bowling.
