Give me one good reason why Yuvraj with his talent can't average 45, he's already averaging 50+, so why can't he go on like this?
Give me a reason why he definitely will?

If he's opening it could fall very quickly as he's not played enough games for that 50+ to be a true judgement.

Anything!
So no real guarantee then?

Well he's looked like it so far so there's no reason yet for him to fail. Opening for India is his big chance to get big scores and cement his place! And similarly with Flintoff, one good year for the time he's been playing is not enough to pass a judgement.

I said whichever way you look at it, Yuvi looks more talented.

So Yuvraj can be rated on a few games, but Flintoff can't on a whole year of good performances in both forms of the game?

I was just using your logic. What has Yuvraj done wrong so far to make you think he won't continue like that? I know! It's just being overly sceptical.

I dont think that can be used as an argument for his 'weakness' in seaming conditions.

Tendulkar wasnt smashing for Yorkshire either.
and in the same way you cant use flintoff's poor scores in india as a weakness in the sub continent......

Yes, but Yuvraj Singh had good performances too in England...Natwest 2002.

1) it was in the ODIs on flat wickets....that doesnt convince anyone that he is capable of playing in seaming conditions in england just yet.
2)flintoff improved his averages with both bat in ball in SL.....

Lot of catching up?

You cannot compare 4 Tests to 30odd.

And in ODI's their batting is close.

Where's the lot of catching up?
My comment was in response to your 'Whereas Flintoff is going up rapidly!' statement. Flintoff didn't improve much in his first 3-4 years and that's why he has a lot of catching up to do and no wonder he is growing rapidly.

It took almost 20+ Test matches and 50+ ODIs for Flintoff to be the player he is today but Yuvraj has been a performer from the first day and has been improving steadily. Dont get me wrong, IMO Flintoff is a very good player and I will have him in my time because his bowling is just too good but purely as a batsman/fielder Yuvraj will get my vote.

When you start losing the argument you bring up the flat wicket, dont you ??

Australia

Flintoff 16.00
Yuvraj 39.25

England

Flintoff 30.77
Yuvraj 50.80

In New Zealand

Flintoff 12.00
Yuvraj 19.77

In South Africa

Flintoff 31.20
Yuvraj 28.00

In Sri Lanka

Flintoff 9.75
Yuvraj 35.83

In West Indies

Flintoff 30.25
Yuvraj 5.50

In Zimbabwe

Flintoff 54.00
Yuvraj 1.00

I am sure Australia, England, Sri Lanka, NZ all have flat wickets and only WI & Zim have seaming wickets.

1)incase you havent noticed ODIs all over the world are played predominently on flat wickets these days
2) despite all that they both average the same
3) my point was that yuvraj might have a problem on seaming wickets, where in the blue hell has he played ODIs on seaming wickets?NZ perhaps, and its not like he came out of it successfully! besides the argument was used to counter the baseless argument that flintoff couldnt play in the sub continent

So what exactly is your logic for Flintoff being better batsman than Yuvraj ?
ive never said that flintoff is a better batsman than yuvraj.....i firmly believe that ATM we cant say that either one of them is better.

when ever an india does well abroad its flat wickets

when ever an overseas player play bad in india its because of the low spinning pitches

ODI pitches in 85% cases are batsmen freindly all over the world

1) conditions in england are different from conditions in australia
2) and what makes you think that flintoff, despite showing improvement in SL, is still as bad as he was in india?
yeah conditions are different, just the small fact that Aus bowlers are abt twice as good as most eng county bowlers.., being an international match there is more pressure and pride at stake too.. That too in Aus against the best team..

Hell yeah, English County rates higher than all that !!

and have i ever stated that??i've always maintained that when you look at ODI records you are looking at players 'flat pitch' record and since both yuvraj and flintoff average the same i dont see how you could call one better than the other.....

except that flintoff happens to be a far better ODI bowler and provides the balance to the side that india have always wanted.......
