then again, I don't necessarily have De Villiers over Lloyd either, cry @capt_Luffylike I won't put Javed above Lloyd

Murali's peak years too.
Well summer up. When I was going on about these issues, they called me anti-Lara, even though he is one of my favorites.ah no worries, by holes in his batting I mean he has some issues
vs Flat spin, this is a self admitted issue and it shows in his struggles against Anil Kumble, Venkatpathy Raju, Saqlain Mushtaq and c'mon, even he admitted it.
vs Express Pace, was scared to face Shoaib, did fear the great pacers, struggled with Donald who was express pace and got out to him multiple times.
vs Bounce, this is a personal one but he looked hopeless against the Ashes 2005 quaret whenever there was inconsistent bounce, I saw this too, he made his 400* at the flattest pitch ever at Antingua Recreation Ground.
vs Reverse, we saw what happened when he faced the two Ws, don't need to say much more than that.
he clearly had quite a few more weaknesses, sure he was Bradmanesque against conventional seamer/swingers and flighted spin, but not nearly had the flawlessness of Viv or Tendulkar.

I mean you do see how long the forum has been active, no?Gotta give props how the "latest crop" is literally me; and it's been over a year and a half by now.....
Both (I didn’t actually check who was ranked in what .25 tiers tbh)The rankings? Or the tier system? (if the system itself, then ok. otherwise, fk you)
Certainly comparable, just a bit below.it's pretty unreasonably high lol, like I don't think Miandad is really compareable to Root or Dravid at all
Better than Root in Aus, at least he has tons there. Similar in WI to Dravid in SA, his 1988 series was awesome. India is still a very good record. England is at least good, not mid.outside of New Zealand, his away record is super lacking, Root lvl in Australia, Mid in England, mid in West Indies, no ton in India
Yeah but they average very close and Root faced tougher attacks all around in Australia. Dravid is trash in SA. England is just a double ton on a road and not much outside it.Better than Root in Aus, at least he has tons there. Similar in WI to Dravid in SA, his 1988 series was awesome. India is still a very good record. England is at least good, not mid.
Javed faced Lillee consistently in Aus and has a ton against him.Yeah but they average very close and Root faced tougher attacks all around in Australia. Dravid is trash in SA. England is just a double ton on a road and not much outside it.
his away record is far from even ATVG
He had a big tour in the 90s late in his career IIRCEngland is just a double ton on a road and not much outside it.
on a road against a lillee very close to retiring.Javed faced Lillee consistently in Aus and has a ton against him.
Yes Dravid struggled in SA similar to Javed in WI, tho Javed had an awesome 88 series there.
England, Javed also had a good 1992 series.
it was a big match where he made 153*, scoreline read 459/7 declared and 446/4 declared, good knock but not enough away dominance to compete with Dravid or be close to him really. He had a big tour in the 90s late in his career IIRC
We all admit Dravid is better, but it's a fairly good record in England overall for Miandad, just not great.it was a big match where he made 153*, scoreline read 459/7 declared and 446/4 declared, good knock but not enough away dominance to compete with Dravid or be close to him really.
It's decent, at most, that's all I'd give you.We all admit Dravid is better, but it's a fairly good record in England overall for Miandad, just not great.
You could trash Dravid scoring big on Pakistani flat decks too.
And Lillee even close to retirement was still quality. Would easily take Miandad in Aus over Root who doesn't even have a ton.
Better than mid. It's decent, at most, that's all I'd give you.
Fair but I would still rate a record scoring on flat tracks as bottomline good. Might as well call Dravid in NZ as mid.I would do so but Rahul's runs I'm pretty sure resulted in victories so don't do it.
Look, all said and done, we all would take a record with tons over one without them. 14 tests for Root without a ton is inexcusable.iirc he averaged 50 in that series upto that road where Miandad made a hundred, got 6 wickets there but like 6/180 after bowling 50+ overs, cleared lessened. It's 38 avg vs 36 avg, not enough of an average difference for the weight of tons to matter.
From the standards of Root or Dravid, they'd get **** on if they had Javed's England record in one of the major countries.Better than mid.
Yeah sure, it's decent from a general perspective, it's good for someone like a Pujara or a Rohit, not a Miandad.Fair but I would still rate a record scoring on flat tracks as bottomline good.
It's whatever, at the end we'd go by averages rather than number of tons in Australia, but his career is still ongoing so we'll see what he does next year, Dravid in Australia also has one ton only but is plain better than Javed.Look, all said and done, we all would take a record with tons over one without them. 14 tests for Root without a ton is inexcusable.
