Which makes me wonder.... How do the Saffers (or rather, Faf himself) pronounce his name? The French way, the Dutch way, or the English way?Always entertaining listening to Ian Chappell trying to say Du Plessis

Rabada, Philander and QdK all had fair cases for it imo.I also think after his first innings spell, Philander could honestly have been man of the match as well.
The last 's' is silent, so pronounced the French way.Doop Less-is
chappell started playing so long ago everyone lived in mud huts and wore loin clothsIt's not great from Chappell, you've got to take it from whence it comes. He's an old white dude, he probably does think most black people live in mud huts and and wear loincloths.
It would have been a lot worse if Michael Clarke or someone similar said something about Rabada being from a village.
I dunno, the tweet calling for Radaba's neurosugeon dad to give Chappell a lobotomy got a chuckle from me.The Chappen "village" comment is nothing, it is sensationalist... Problem is, that is is going to get a lot of traction in South Africa... So much so that he could be in trouble.
Isn't this what they always say? They will struggle in Asian conditions, but are still a strong side in fast, bouncy, seaming conditions.
Test Batting v bowling average difference. Vernon is in this category now.
Trevor GODDARD : 34.46 - 26.22 = 8.24
Eddie BARLOW : 45.74 - 34.05 = 11.69
Brian MCMILLAN : 39.36 - 33.82 = 5.54
Shaun POLLOCK : 32.31 - 23.11 = 9.20
Jacques KALLIS : 55.37 - 32.65 = 22.72
Vernon PHILANDER : 24.64 - 22.09 = 2.55
Feel bad for leaving out arguably our greatest in Procter & Rice but you get my drift. Klusener was -5.05 so shows you how hard it is because he was no flash in the pan type cricketer.

news.com.au said:The Australian allrounder was given out LBW on review after South Africa successfully challenged a decision from umpire Aleem Dar.
Dar originally ruled Kagiso Rabada’s full-pitched in-swinging delivery was going to miss the left-hander’s leg stump, but the Decision Review System showed slightly more than half the ball would have hit low down on Marsh’s leg stump.
I think it depends on the team tbh. A bowling all rounder like an Imran would be much more useful in say, the current Indian team who have no pace bowler to make them competitive outside of Asia. A with a betting bowling attack but okayish batting lineup, would benefit more from a batting AR.but also batting all-rounders are a heap more useful
Would chappel have used the village reference to refer to Grant Elliot and Michael Lumb ? Seeing as they come from the same city and school. Or is village only used when it comes to black cricketers.Na it was very complementary. Ian Healy was saying "I want to know everything about this young man. Who he played for, when he started bowling fast, who his idols are etc". Chappell said "if you want to find out when he started bowling fast, just ask the people in his village, they'll tell you"

It was clearly closet racism.
