The Chappen "village" comment is nothing, it is sensationalist... Problem is, that is is going to get a lot of traction in South Africa... So much so that he could be in trouble.

It's not great from Chappell, you've got to take it from whence it comes. He's an old white dude, he probably does think most black people live in mud huts and and wear loincloths.

It would have been a lot worse if Michael Clarke or someone similar said something about Rabada being from a village.

One of the worst Australian sides in a long time. South Africa's batting, bowling and fielding looks balanced despite not being strong when they were ranked as #1. They will struggle in Asian conditions, but are still a strong side in fast, bouncy, seaming conditions. Australia can't play spin, seam, swing, anything.

but also batting all-rounders are a heap more useful

I think it depends on the team tbh. A bowling all rounder like an Imran would be much more useful in say, the current Indian team who have no pace bowler to make them competitive outside of Asia. A with a betting bowling attack but okayish batting lineup, would benefit more from a batting AR.

Na it was very complementary. Ian Healy was saying "I want to know everything about this young man. Who he played for, when he started bowling fast, who his idols are etc". Chappell said "if you want to find out when he started bowling fast, just ask the people in his village, they'll tell you"

Would chappel have used the village reference to refer to Grant Elliot and Michael Lumb ? Seeing as they come from the same city and school. Or is village only used when it comes to black cricketers.
