So NSW, who "could beat almost any International side" lie 5th of 6 in the FC comp, and 3rd in the OD...
That's *almost* as good as Man Utd losing at Molineux...

awsome game last night, even if NSW did lose.

NSW just didn't bat well enough, didn't score enough runs. no one went on with it after getting a start, a little unusual but anyway...

stand out performers -

Noffke - 10 overs 2/27, bowled absolutley brilliantly never looked like getting hit for many runs and beat the bat quite abit

Katich - looked good with the bat, caught right on the boundary looking for his 100 partnership with S Waugh, his 50 and 2nd 6 in a row

The NSW tail - Nicholson and Bracken - 3 fantastic 6's between tham including nicholson becoming the first bowler to hit the sign

Maher and Law - these guys looked impregnable vs NSW quicks, going along at 7 - 7.5 per over. unfortunatley for them, NSW had a 4 spin options, both fell to macgill

Perren - took him an age to start scoring - pinned down by the spinners, but he played well and got them close enough to the target that noffke and Kaspa coule get them home

O'Brien - bowled one hell of a spell - 10 overs 1/21, pinned the QLD batsmen down beautifully

Macgill - bowled well - bar one over which went for like 16 :( but took 4 crucial wickets

Interesting captaincy by Waugh not to bowl Katich

Pitty they can't bowl.

Probably because he wanted to win.

Oh well, at least N.S.W. should have Brett Lee for the rest of the season, if that is any help at all.

WOW!

35 year old Stuart Law has smashed his previous record for the fastest ever ING Cup 100. Against the helpless Tasmanians, Law plundered a century off 69 deliveries.

The previous fastest was 74 balls.

Which was jointly held by Law, Haddin & Langer.

And Kaspa just keeps performing, shame the selectors don't think so.
williams does too, thats why hes not getting a chance.

he should be above Bracken though

Brad Hodge and David Hussey seem to be hitting out at the selectors for picking Mike Hussey for the Aussie squad. As I speak, Hodge is 60 off 74 and Hussey 37 off 52.

I think Mike Hussey deserves his chance he is having a great year in OD domestic game's like allways.

After Callum Ferguson hit the ING sign tonight, he became the FOURTH person to do that this season. If you count Hodge's little thwack that earnt $25,000 for charity then that makes FIVE. Checking history, the sign has never been hit more than ONCE in a season. What the hell is going on this season?

This afternoon was the first time I have feared for my life at a cricket game. At about 4:15pm an agressive storm hit the 'Gabba and lasted for nigh on 1/2 an hour. There was thunder, lightning, peltering rain (everything but hail and cows flying through the air). And yet in just over an hour after the storm hit the players returned to the ground and we still got 100 overs in.

Things to take from the game:

Stuart Law is turning it on in his last summer in Australia.

Mark Waugh is still dropping sitters and taking the hard ones.

N.S.W.'s back up bowlers shouldn't even be playing grade cricket.

Qld need alot more consistency from their middle order.

Kaspa is the best fit pace bowler in the country (once again got man of the match).
