I believe I posted that post 23 minutes after the match started.

And anyway... as of this moment I dont care about the Pura Cup, we have absolutley no chance of making it past 6th place. ( I went down there today... even bubbly Hoggy couldnt lift their spirits...)

He might be a little over the hill, if you know what I mean. All he seems to do these days is bounce around with his tongue out (occasionally a wicket or 3 haha).
I think he shoulda been picked though, for the 3 day match that is, just to see how he goes against the Indians, seeing as McGill is having a spot of trouble.

Its true hes primarily an OD player, but I thought that the selectors would at least make a small attempt to transform into Test material.

Just heard on the radio that he is in danger of being dropped from the Warriors team. The coach said he could be dropped after an ordinary performance in the loss to Victoria.

Yeah well it was kinda ordinary. People think hes permanent because hes played a Test or two, but they didnt take lunch on day 2, Hoggy provided them plenty of pies on the feild.

Ok, I know, bad joke.

Part of his problem (I suspect) is that no one is quite sure what they want him to be....either a chinamen who can bat, a lower-order batsman who bowls chinamen, an ODI all-rounder, or a Test-quality spinner. Hogg's batting is not good enough to play Test cricket at No 6, his bowling isn't really up to being the lone spinner in a team, and the Aussies would prefer Symonds or Clarke to be the ODI all-rounder.

I'd be confused too :D

Hes's not a very good chinaman. Simon Katich is better, and he is a pretty good bataman too.
I wouldnt go that far , Katich is a better allround package as he'd make the side for his batting alone & his bowling & feilding are just a bonus.

Dont read to much into Katich's 6-65 , more than a bit of luck involved there , on another day it could have read 1-90.
He'll always be good to pick up a few wickets as the opposition are willing to take more risks against him & although it wouldnt shock me to see him go at 4.5-6 an over against good batting sides he will generally take a wicket or two.

Neither Hogg nor Katich are test quality spinners on their own IMO but from a sheer bowling point of view , Hoggy offers that little bit of extra control & slightly more variety.
Although with his form ATM Im not sure if he'll make the VB series squad , they may even have to call up...gasp....Stuart MacGill :O

Yeah, he really went out of his way to shoot me down. Thanks Mr Ponting...:P (why did you take so long to do it?)

Anyway, I wouldnt think Stuie would be called up, I think he is a bit too expensive for one day cricket against the Indians. Perhaps they might take a chance and use Hauritz or something.

I also agree Hoggy is a better chinaman than Katich. Katich is merely a part-time bowler, Hogg is much more reliable (not in recent times, but its there somewhere).

Tait gets the best ever figures in a OD domestic match in Australia. 8/43 (9.3). Still couldn't stop Tasmania from making 250. Dighton got 87 & Watson 78.

Qld 0/79 (13.5) Maher 39*, Law 29* v W.A.

Doesn't look like it will be enough though. Langer blasted 106 off 79, Chris Rogers is not out on 86 off 93, and WA are 239/3 with 12 overs to go.

So NSW, who "could beat almost any International side" lie 5th of 6 in the FC comp, and 3rd in the OD...
