ING Cup

:) So many positives to come out of yesterdays game.

1/ Tassie FINALLY did well.

2/ Shane Watson had a good allround game

3/ Warnie bowled well, IMO, except for that over against Watson:cool2:

4/ The Vics lost and we're through..

That Ben Cameron guy playing for SA looks good, I reckon. He scored two 50s in his debut FC match last week, one not out, and another in his debut ING cup match today, opening vs NSW (even though it did involve a bit of luck). I know its very early and all, but hey I think he deserves a pat on the back.

Uh-oh. He scored a duck in the SA v NSW Pura Cup match today...:O Eeep. Still, I'm sure it was just a ripper of a ball..!

Just found this little gem on the ABC website:

"He clubbed the ball to Marcus North at long off, who mis-fielded, allowing non-striker Marcus North and Berry to scramble through for the required two runs."

That was in reference to the last ball of the WA v Victoria match, with Victoria getting the bonus point.

I heard it was John Taylor who misfielded it..? I wouldn't be surprised, he had a SHOCKER of a day. Fair enough he has a bit of batting talent, but he is primarily a bowler and having him in the top 5 batsmen in lunacy. He's not good enough. There is no reason to have him there and WA's man of the moment Marcus North at 7. SEVEN! What the hell is with that? Northey slog swept Warney for six! More to the point, having North so far down the order lets the spinners get at him early in his innings, which is something he is uncomfortable with. That is not to say he can't play spinners, but early on he can be scratchy against them. I hope WA sort out their problems and gets ready for the final.

For starters the bowling is just not happening. Angel is retired, Clark, Casson are injured, Williams, Hogg are on national duty. So who can they bring in? I'd go with Edmondson and Thistle to back up Wilson. Eddie and Thistle have both shown promise and they would do much better than Taylor who is having serious problems with his economy rate and Peter Worthington whose seam bowling is sliding too much too fast.

WAs batting is very good, some of the best in Australia in fact (despite their latest performances). They have to back themselves to score runs and stop filling the batting line up with bowlers who get into the side on a skerrick of batting talent. Fill it with the bowlers who have actually performed this year.

As a West Aussie, yesterdays match was very dissapointing. Surely they could of defended a score of 251(?) much better then they did. The bowling was apalling, Wilson was not supported by any of the full time, and part time for that matter, bowlers.

Worthington is so so, he is extremely inconsistant in my opinion, however can get the job done well on a good day.

I just heard the commentators in the QLD vs SA match, that WA batting Hussey and North at 6 and 7 is limiting them, i do agree, taylor should be dropped down the order and hussey and north brought 1-2 spots up the order.

Now we just have to hope SA beats QLD today for us to get a home final vs Victoria. SA are currently 2/140 off 29 overs chasing 267, with Deitz and Lehmann at the crease. Should be interesting

Lets hope a big score from Lehmann and some good support down the other end. and us west aussies will get another home final :P :P

LOL @ Yesterday's game. The fumble at long off was quite funny. :D

South Australia are choking here, they need 31 off 24 after cruising. The game changed when Lehmann hauled out. This is going to cost Victoria the final. :(

Yeah, they officially choked, with a 6 needed off the last ball. They only managed a single :( so QLD won by 4 runs :(

Ah well, at least us Westies are still in the final, although it would of been great to have had a home final again. . .

What is the date of the final?

I wonder if SA will get sick of losing by one hit all the time.... I know I am this time :!(

As for WA, yesterdays game was very dissapointing. Re John Taylor, I think he is a good batsman however he should only be placed up the order when needed. He never used to, but now ever since one game here against Qld I think he came in at 3, and now hes in the top and middle order constantly!

Marcus North was just so good yesterday. He got through a bad patch with Warney and found the class to belt him for six (definately my favourite part of the game, I was yelling to my mum 'Northey hit Warne for six, hahahahaha' ). He then saw Warne out and managed to steer WA to a decent total. Woulda been nice if our bowlers were... ahem... good. Speaking of which, wheres Darren Wates??!
I agree with Ged about Eddie. Hes been good so far, and even though he's sometimes expensive, he always picks up wickets, which would be perfect in partnership with I-never-give-away-more-than-20 Wilson.

Roll on Sunday...

And roll over Queensland!

Darren Wates? Are you sure? I haven't seen him bowl much but I know for a fact that he bats pretty well and that worries me, given the way some 'bowlers' have made the Warriors side lately.

Bring on Sunday!

I'll be there cheering on the bulls, who go into the final with some momentum, I think they have won their last 4 or 5 games, whereas W.A. have some shocking form. W.A. will be reminded that they went for over 400 runs last time they were at the 'Gabba, I hope that gets repeated.

Hauritz was the difference today, his top spinner had everyone bemused.

Go the Bulls!

Why do South Australia continue to disappoint me, this has got to be the 3rd game I have heard of them losing by a handful of runs...

They have the talent!

I think WA's batting is good enough to get them home, providing some real bowlers are called in. It's been good enough all year but then the bowling started to get mucked around with. The bowling has never been fantastic this year, but the batting gets them home. Just bring in some bowlers already and the crisis is averted!
