Battle of the Test captains

BoyBrumby

Englishman
Pollock was actually captain for longer than I recall; I somehow remembered his reign as a brief interregnum between the saintly Hansie & KP's chum, Fat Gray. I know he was spoken of as an unimaginative captain & the old Vera Duckworth horlicks was pretty comical, but I will say he brought dignity to the role, somehing I'd certainly never accuse Cronje or Smith of.

Any road, gotta go with Imran. A prince among cricketers.

Hussain was a good Captain but Jardine was a genius and btw bodyline is the coolest ever to happen in cricket.

Jardine, pretty comfortably. Certainly never had the interests of the game at heart, but he wasn't quite as bad as Cronje in that respect, and was a quality captain in every other respect.

Much as I appreciated Hussain's leadership and efforts in dragging Eng from the bottom of the Test pile to respectabilty, and the fact that he was harder on his own team than he was on the oppo heh heh, Jardine.

Hussain

Much as it may come across as Aussie whinging, Hussain managed to captain England without resorting to dirty tactics, so he gets my vote.

Nasser did a good job. However, love him or hate him, Jardine ochestrated the most famous captaincy and team strategy.

Hard as nails and completely focused on victory

Jardine

Haha, don't know if that nickname's gonna catch on, but it's Jardo for me, too.

I'm also curious as to why Beleg voted for Pollock over Imran...

Nah, I rate Beleg higher than that (this is not a comment on SS, just the theory). And the particular dropping-a-turd-in-the-punchbowl way in which he posted it to me implies he might want to be asked... :)
