Who will win the Champions' Trophy?

I said before the tournament started that NZ would be the side to watch. Hard to go past Australia but I'd still keep an eye on NZ

    Bond will not sacrifice speed

Probably the best thing for NZ to do is plan their side without him and enjoy him as a bonus when he is fit.

Group B - Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka

His 89 last night was worth at least 120-130 on that wicket. Not that I'm biased or anything ....

    Bond will not sacrifice speed

Can't stay away from forums eh Timmy? He's only missing one match but geez Louise, if this bloke trips over his shadow he will get injured....

Steve Waugh - the overrated test captain

The same could be said for Ponting - yet people rate Tugga higher than Ponting. Go figure.

Steve Waugh - the overrated test captain

Ummm... before debating the issue, wouldn't it make sense to decide upon the criteria by which you judge a captain's ability? I've had this debate with many people at another forum. They all think Ponting is a brilliant captain because of his win / loss record. I personally think Punter is an...

Who is better in these five batsmen?

It's hard to go past Isaac Vivian Richards. In an era where ODI's were just shorter versions of tests, this was a bloke who could arrogantly stand there, chew gum, and thump the ball for 6!!

    New Zealand Domestic Season 2006/07

    Makes sense to me :)

Is the Champions Trophy just a waste of time this year?

Normally I don't care but Aussie has been starved of cricket for months now *sob* so I want cricket!!!! Plus it's a good forerunner to the WC - will give us a chance to assess teams' chances. I will be watching - on pay tv :D

Who will win the Champions' Trophy?

If McGrath finds form, Australia will be hard to beat. Plus, we are keen this time as this is a trophy we've never won. NZ are the team to watch closely though. Plus India will be hard to beat on their home turf.

    New Zealand Domestic Season 2006/07

He wasn't last season. I thought it was funny - when he played for wellington he was just a player! It's probably because he's rarely available.

    New Zealand Domestic Season 2006/07

Correct me if I'm wrong - but I didn't think Fleming was captain of his 'local' side....

    New Zealand Domestic Season 2006/07

They kept slotting one dayers in between championship games. It was quite funny really, Flem would make 80 in the 4 day game then fall for a duck in the one dayer! He will basically only be playing ODI's this summer - so NZ has nothing to worry about.

Should the selectors have been picked David Hussey in the Australian One-Day squad?

I don't see where you would slot him in. Who would he replace? And I agree with the comments about not being consistent enough.

    Glenn McGrath

 yes well this guy thinks cricket is still a gentleman's game, thinks bowling bouncers is unethical  , and thinks batting is just 11 scores added together.
  16. JF.

    Glenn McGrath

Oh yeah, this will be his last Ashes. But this guy thinks he's no good anymore. And he used the DLF cup to back up his claims 8-)
  17. JF.

    Glenn McGrath

Been having debates with someone in another forum over Pigeon's spot in the team. This person thinks McGrath is finished and won't last the summer. I don't agree. Thoughts?

    Ambrose-Walsh or Wasim Akram-Waqar Younis

I always thought Walsh was overrated, simply because of his longevity in the game. I agree with those who said Ambrose / Marshall but did those two actually bowl in tandem? In terms of the thread I'd have to go for Wasim / Waqar. That pair were just lethal.

    Gilcirhist or healy

Healy - simple. It's also worth remembering that until Gilchrist came along, a batting average of 25+ was considered very good from a keeper. Gilly has changed the way we think about keeping. I just hope that when Gilly retires, we don't go down the England road. We should always select a guy...

    Stephen Fleming

 Someone once separated his average against spin-bowling from his average against the quicks. It was something like 72 for the spinners and 30 for the quicks  Which makes you wonder why he ever opened in Tests....
