New Zealand Domestic Season 2006/07

Correct me if I'm wrong - but I didn't think Fleming was captain of his 'local' side....

Fleming is captain when he is available I think. I read about Parlane as captain in Cricinfo New Zealand section. It was written on the 5th October

He wasn't last season. I thought it was funny - when he played for wellington he was just a player!

It's probably because he's rarely available.

For the good of Wellington cricket, there really is no point of making Fleming captain when a) he is constantly coming and going from domestic to international and b) they are better off blooding another captain in NZ cricket because there is no need to give Fleming continuous captaincy. Everyone is well aware of his capabilities.

Is the season going on right now? And do teams pick foreign players? I've seen Mohammed Wasim in one team.

The season is a fair way off starting...rugby season's not over yet. And then cricket only gets 100% attention until February, when rugby starts again.

Mohammad Wasim played for Otago a couple of years back, last year we had Jonathon Trott and this year Kyle Hogg is coming over to play for us. No, our domestic season hasn't started just yet. The first game is on the 15th of November.

The Ranji Trophy may also start at that time, so we don't find the Indian domestic teams hunting for players from New Zealand, nor do we find Indians there. The chief of the Maharashtra board, who has been looking to sign on Macgill, Gough, Best, then Lawson, said that he's looking for players whose season doesn't clash with India's. Maybe NZ's does.

Yea, I'd prefer our domestic competition being dominated by NZ'ers rather than becoming somewhat like the County Championship in England where every team is allowed 2 foreign players. The odd exception like Wasim, Trott and now Hogg is perfectly acceptable.

passed me by at the time but it seems Mal Loye will be playing for Auckland after the HKS.

2 Lancs players involved then (3 i guess if you include Astle) will have to keep a closer eye on things

starts middle of Nov right?

HKS?

The State Championship (First Class) kicks off on the 15th of November, State Shield (OD) starts on the 23rd of December and after all that is finished the Twenty/20 competition is going to start on the 11th of January.

Anyone else click that link expecting to see 9 wickets for 1 run?!

Haha, that was what I read it as and my heart sort of stopped for a second. Took me a few more seconds to realise...

James Marshall had a good day, it seems. Would like for him to fill his boots this season.
