Well, it's definitely not a road. Nice spell from Haze this morning.

    Not a bad delivery that.

Anything less than 6-7 wickets for Australia today and the series is more or less over I think. The plus side is India really only have 5 batsmen, but it's a big ask. First hour is important.

    I guess it depends how you interpret the meaning of the first statement, but to me it makes sense, it just requires one lean year. For Ponting it's: 2002: 1064 @ 70.93, 5 centuries 2003: 1503 @ 100.20, 6 centuries 2004: 697 @ 41.00, 0 centuries 2005: 1544 @ 67.13, 6 centuries 2006: 1333 @...

Yeah, consistency is the main difference. Maybe not 4 years, but a long period of averaging 70+ is kinda rare but most of the real purple patch players like your Sobers, Ponting, Sangakkara types have done it. Ponting's best period was 2002-2006, so 5 years, where he played 57 tests for 6141...

Definitely the best pitch of the series incidentally. I could see the seamers and Lyon doing well, but it's also a surface you could make 400+ on at a decent rate.

Overall this is under par I think. I don't think it's a 450 par pitch or anything, there's something there, but Australia will need to bowl well in the first innings and keep it close at least to be able to take advantage of bowling last. No more than a 50 run deficit or so. It's an interesting...

    The half-century ****block. Great stuff.

Yeah, I really want to see Lyon and Hazlewood actually get dismissed by an Indian bowler here. If you get bowled by Umesh or something that's fine but the runouts and dismissals playing aggressive shots with a batsman at the other end and stuff are getting old.

Tail standing up decently so far, and pretty impressed with Wade tbh. Might be about as well as I've seen him bat.

Huge wicket. One positive for Australia is the amount of turn the ball before that and the variation there, at least there's some indication that there's more life in the pitch than it looked like there would be in the opening session. Definitely not just a road once the shine goes off the...

Already there for the average, passing Sobers even if he gets a duck in his next innings. 126 more for Hobbs' run record.

Actually a big innings for Wade I think. He's had an okayish series without really doing anything particularly great. Couple of moderate scores and fairly good keeping. Some runs here would basically mean he keeps the keeping gig for some time to come. This is exactly why he's in the team over...

Please, if you're going to post the terrible cricket meme that the set batsman getting out after a decent score did worse than the batsmen who failed, and also blame the fan whipping boy rather than the players who have had similar/worse series than him while ignoring his good performances, you...

Based on what? They both have good records against spin. Handscomb was brought into the team largely with this tour in mind IMO, did well on an A tour of India and has a reputation in domestic cricket for being a good player of spin. Marsh has a good record in the subcontinent and plays spin...

Really nice from Kuldeep. Has bowled a few full tosses but definitely has nice variation and pretty good accuracy for a wristspinner. Been a very good spell. Second test in a row Maxwell has come in with the team in a bit of trouble, to bat with Smith.

Yeah there's probably lots of people who made less than 500ish runs and had good series, I was just using statsguru filter. Misbah in 2007 is another one, 464 @ 116 in 3 tests.

Man that's a lame way to get out. Just a weird, awkward shot.
