Based on what? They both have good records against spin. Handscomb was brought into the team largely with this tour in mind IMO, did well on an A tour of India and has a reputation in domestic cricket for being a good player of spin. Marsh has a good record in the subcontinent and plays spin better than most Australian batsmen.

He's genuinely decent though. Looks assured most of the time against Ashwin and Jadeja and handled herath well too. Most of his dismissals have been typical lose shots to the pacers anyway.

Well I personally consider it to be the greatest test for overseas players in particular, and I don't expect players to dominate India the way Smith has done, but I would need to have watched them play some quality innings over a period of time to say right, this guy's worrying me now.
