Lillee did pretty well in the WSC series in WI. 23 wickets in 5 tests @28.
Both nothing special. Good but that's itpersonally rate Freddie's efforts in West Indies higher than Lillee's

sure, But Fred's windies was significantly flatter and he more or less won a series in 1960, thus I give it to him. Both nothing special. Good but that's it
I find it amazing how history has been re-written using some statistical measure. All the WI pacers averaged lower than Lillee, all of Holding, Garner, Roberts and even Croft was pretty good. They just bowled in a more competitive setting.
I find it amazing how you just posted their WPM in your previous post to suggest Lillee was better.I find it amazing how history has been re-written using some statistical measure.
Well I saw them all live. Wpm seems to be very underrated on here. Hadlee and Lillee are so far ahead of any other pace bowler since WW1, but it seems to be totally ignored. Have you not heard you need 20 wkts to win matchesI find it amazing how you just posted their WPM in your previous post to suggest Lillee was better.
Cummins 1st/2nd change 64/125 inningsOnce again you want to debate me when we fundamentally agree.
- Cummins is 1st change and likely moreso in his career than Walsh didn't have the new ball
- More draws? I mean ok but even then that didnt stop others from having more than 4WPM at home.
- I bring out Australia because they were his strongest opposition, he played away the most there and never had a great series there. Deal with it.
WPM is definitely important. But we also have to take other things into account, like the competition to take wickets.Wpm seems to be very underrated on here. Really, luffy is very clearly saying itAnd nobody is saying that he wasn't the best WSC bowler, it's just that others are pretty close as well.
That's funny since Lillee was clearly the stand out best bowler in WSC
That's funny since nothing there was standout to Holding, Garner, Roberts and Imran
You said "clearly standout", which Lillee just wasn't to Holding, Garner, Roberts and Imran, i.e., pretty much every ATG bowler.Really, luffy is very clearly saying it
So taking 17 more wkts than the next best bowler Roberts with only 1 match difference is not a stand out. Got it, as number of wkts obviously doesn't matterYou said "clearly standout", which Lillee just wasn't to Holding, Garner, Roberts and Imran, i.e., pretty much every ATG bowler.
Garner and Imran both had higher WPM's, and significantly lower averages. So taking 17 more wkts than the next best bowler Roberts with only 1 match difference is not a stand out. Got it, as number of wkts obviously doesn't matter
I'm not sure he was the best WSC bowler maybe the most hypedWPM is definitely important. But we also have to take other things into account, like the competition to take wickets.

Smh all of a sudden records in Australia matter. But whatever kid....Once again you want to debate me when we fundamentally agree.

you watched in 1979?Watching cricket in 1979/80 Dennis Lillee was ranked the best Australian pace bowler ever, while Greg Chappell was ranked the 2nd best bat after Bradman.
Nothing I've seen since changes my thoughts on that, so Chapell/Lillee is my pick (Maybe Ponting/McGrath might have changed my mind)
I deliberately didn't want McGrath since it would be easier.Watching cricket in 1979/80 Dennis Lillee was ranked the best Australian pace bowler ever, while Greg Chappell was ranked the 2nd best bat after Bradman.
Nothing I've seen since changes my thoughts on that, so Chappell/Lillee is my pick (maybe Ponting/McGrath might have been close if an option)
My first test series watched was 1978/79 WSC depleted Ashes but I've tried to wipe that from my memory (although Kim Hughes, Allan Border and Rodney Hogg were pretty good)you watched in 1979?
