what is this double standard? either both Murali and Warne are above Marshall and Hadlee or neither are, there's no logic to pinpointing Warne.

I got Warne ~ Murali but Barnes over either pretty clearly so it's contextually different for me.
Ok. Back to the argument though, I find it hard to separate Warne and Murali too, as I do with Hadlee and McGrath, Steyn and Imran, and Ambrose and Lillee.

Ambrose was everything Lillee was, but better and more spread out.
Yeah except he wasn't as skillful or nearly as penetrative a bowler and much more reliant on his pace to get wickets which showed as soon as his pace declined, unlike Lillee who took 5WPM all stages of his career even after back injury.

And by more spread out you are referring to a handful of series in NZ, SA and Pak where he took 3WPM. It's not like Steyn who won game everywhere.
