Oh jeez, you're right. It's even worse. I thought when they put on screen that this is Game 25 out of 45 that would include the knockouts, but they don't.

20 games to go and we already know the semi finalists!!

I don’t think the places within the top 4 matter much as well. As long as you got some good form heading into the semi finals and no injuries that’s what matters more
Yeah, I'm not buying that. No one will want to get India the semis if they can avoid it. How did it work out for Australia getting the hosts in 2019?

They would have felt confident in beating England which they done in the group stages and Aus had a good run in the group stages. It’s just anything can happen in these semi finals. Your theory works the other way also, cause India was the favourites after the group stages yet New Zealand beat them in the semis. Ideally you don’t wanna just be scrapping in the semis as well. I think having some your batting and bowlers in form is more important

Like right now Australia still has batting and bowling troubles lingering from their first 3 games they don’t want those issues still there just before a semi final

Apart from the ridiculously good West Indies in 75 and 79, and ridiculously good Australia in 03 and 07, how many times have league table toppers won the trophy in remaining 8 world cups? Only once. 1996 Sri Lanka (who too had two walk overs in their undefeated league run)

And India should aim to be like them.

You just excluded 5 of the 12 WC . Your sample size is very small

These upsets earlier by like Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Netherlands looks likely to ruin the excitement of top 4 race when you think about it.

Well only excluded 4 because of how utterly dominant the winning teams were in those tournaments. Any inferences about what led to their win (e.g. winning toss or not in the final) would be completely futile because they were always going to win those tournaments.

Aus have always beaten NZ.
Pak have almost always beaten NZ especially when it mattered the most.
SA one is more 50-50.

So far NZ have won 4 games vs Eng, Ned, Ban, Afg.

So I don't think they have been properly tested. Those 4 teams are currently 9th, 10th, 8th and 7th. Yep the bottom 4 teams.
New Zealand haven't lost to South Africa in a ODI World Cup match in 24 years.

If you're basing it on the head to head history of Australia and Pakistan then I'm not sure how you can say NZ SA is 50-50.

They beat us in 96 and 99, while we've won the rest so currently 6-2 to NZ but perhaps SA are due.

And Pakistan have played us like once in a world cup in 20 years. Genuine mouth breathing imbeciles on this site. It isn't ****ing Waqar and Wasim vs Chris Nevin and Craig Spearman
How can anyone forget Ross Taylor smashing Pak to bits? After kakmal dropped a sitter
