Warne and Mcgrath retiring after the 5th Ashes test!!!

Both greats retiring together 'll be a great loss for the cricket world, and the end of Australia's dominance in cricket will begin from their retirement.

Yeah, you can't replace McGrath and Warne, however a bowling attack of: Lee, Clark, Johnson, Watson and MacGill would still be better than most.

Wouldn't it be funny if Warne said these reports were a load of BS tomorrow? After all the farewells, avatars and sig additions ... owned. :p
word, was telling my pops that earlier. It all is rumors though. Hopefully in the end it is TBH, with all the talk Warne usually saying he'll only retire when the enjoyment goes away he still seems to be loving it and Pigeon only the other day was saying how he could do a Hadlee or Walsh & play close to 40.

Hoping for the best 2moro..

Yup, that's a good one. Forgot about that. I"m sure there are others as well, but still would be hard to match the impact of these two giants retiring at the same time.
that had a huge impact on australian cricket...it took years for them to recover from that body blow...don't think this will quite have the same impact, i would think cricket australia is better prepared this time around...

I don't think I can add any original comments, so will just express my admiration for Warne and McGrath - even though they brought about so many abject moments in my cricket watching career (ie. vs NZ).

Am quite surprised though, at the level of shock at these announcements. I mean, both players are pretty old...

It's strange I'm feeling quite sad today...cricket is going to be boring without Warne and McGrath :(

This is really getting out of hand with the avatars now.
Every time I read a post, I have to double-check to make sure if it's hb, thesean, dravid, matt79, kazoholic or another tool lacking in originality.

Might have to change my avatar, just because of this post.

Get over yourself!

Besides, HB did it first, and I was second, so I'm less of a tool than everyone except HB! :p

everyone keeps saying shocking news how is it shocking? warne is like 37 now how long you want him to go? he already retired from odi so he doesn't have the world cup to wait for and why await what has to happen then retireing after the most important test series? and mcgrath news was a bit shocking but i was expecting him to retire from tests but not the odis as he had the world cup to wait for but its said that he gave up on his dream to play in that world cup and the main reason being his wife's cancer.

Can someone provide updates regarding the press conference? I don't have the opportunity to watch Sky. :(

Warne has announced his retirement from international, domestic and St Kilda cricket. But he hasn't mentioned Hampshire just yet. He still has two years to run on that contract ...

Warne says it's his time, he probably would have retired at the end of 2005, he only stayed of for the unfinshed business, he says he is very happy, he wants to go out on his terms, he knows it's his time, his last international game will be at the SCG, he will retire from Victoria and St Kilda as well.

Adelaide and 1992 SL were his favorite Test matches.

What a legend.
