Warne and Mcgrath retiring after the 5th Ashes test!!!

I really couldn't care about McGrath though and think it will have a positive impact on the Aussie team as in his case Stu Clarke has proved he's the man for the job.
Thats a candidate for an all time Greigy if I ever heard one. When you stop winning series because your spinner comes on when the opposition is still 0/300....then you'll truly realize what he meant.

I am so emotionally shocked right now. I don't think I will be this upset when Tendulkar retires. The man had everything - attitude, accuracy, and the ability to perform in every condition, no matter what.

But, better to retire a year too early than a year too late. Whenever watching Australia, the question was 'will warne come on with 5 down or 6 down'?

The amount of top three wickets taken by McGrath, his insatiable appetite for the opposition's biggest wickets (Tendy, Lara, etc) has never ceased to amaze me. Aussies may mourn Warne more now, but in a year they will truly realize what they've missed with Pidge.

I wish Pidge the best of luck, and thank him for all the amazing cricket memories he has given us throughout the years. I'm going to go cry in the bathroom now.

This is really getting out of hand with the avatars now.
Every time I read a post, I have to double-check to make sure if it's hb, thesean, dravid, matt79, kazoholic or another tool lacking in originality.
Don't know what you're on about tbh.

well said, thats why on the other thread i said they are equally hard to replaec.. McGrath was always mr consistency, mr inspiration, mr reliable.... all in one

But you can't forget how many games Warne can change on its ear... remember the World cup semi... wow 4/26!!! Australia were goners and he produced this...!! When he came onto bowl the whole game would change....didn't matter if it was 0/50, 0/100, 1/100 or 5/50

Yea, both great obviously but an interesting thing to note is that without McGrath, Warne's figure are Kumble-esque...good but not great. McGrath's figures without Warne are still fantastic.

Lets face. Cricket won't be same without both.

This page is so brilliantly confusing by the way.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Warney comes out tomorrow and says 'what's this about retiring? I'm just endorsing a new hair growth product.'
