Do you really think he would make the Australian team?
I didn't say that. I asked if you would bring this up if he were an Aussie with those stats. I don't think you would've done.

Any way I am happy for him I have nothing against him at all I just though it would be a good topic to bring up considering he had really been struggeling at the time.
I wouldn't have said he was really struggling before this game anyway. He wasn't in the greatest of touch, but he'd got 2 previous half centuries in the series and was consistently getting a start at the top of the order (into double figures 25 of the last 33 innings)

If he does, I will change my name to Buddhika Fernado (my user name on cricket web).
Lol. This should be fun.

Notice he never said "in one Test" and he also never said "in Tests (or ODI alone)" therefore AA technically has all series to score a total of 200 runs and take a total of 10 wickets. ;)

Buddhika has a nice ring to it...

Why not I brough up a topic like this on about Brett Lee or did you forget that ??

Depend's witch way you look at it and I looked at his last 10 matches and at the time of the post he had just 3 50's and an avrage of 29 in those matches.

Nah..Trescothicks innings was on a road against a fairly weak bowling attack so IMO it wasn't that big a deal.

sorry I was just replying from when Marc said Stephen Fleming's 274 in Sri Lanka wasn't that big a deal because the Sri Lankan attack was poor.

I think the only time I've mentioned that the SL attack is poor is when discussing Lara at home a couple of months earlier?

The Sri Lankan attack is pretty much equal to that of the Sri Lankan attack at the moment with Pollock & Ntini equalling out Vaas & Murali.

Pollock and Ntini = Vaas and Murali... just about

Kallis, Hall and Adams vs Fernando, Zoysa and Dharmasena is another story entirely however.

Well, Trescothick is my Godmother's sister-in-law's cousin so I think of him as family (laughs at self - that sounds stupid, but hey? ). He may be inconsistent but, using the words of Simon Barnes in The Times this morning, I'd rather he were inconsistant than consistantly bad. And he plays for Somerset (who are dire, but I have to remain loyal!). Oh well. I just hope he takes his form from the 5th Test match into the tours this winter.

Assuming you mean SL vs. SA, I'd still disagree.

Murali is a one off, but Pollock is just as effective, and Ntini is a far superior bowler to Vaas.

Then you look at back up (as Neil pointed out) and it's no contest!

I beg to differ. They both have a very similar average but Vaas is more economical. Also, Vaas get the ball to swing quite prodigiously at times. I would put Vaas and Ntini on the same level.

Misquote perchance?

Seriously I think Vaas gets the volume of wickets he does because there's no seamer in SL to support him (think Heath Streak)

But in that case it's totally hypothetical, so we will never know unless Pollock and Hall retire effective immediately. :D

Honestly are Hall & Adams that great? no..they're in & out of the South African side all the time.

Lets not forget that Jayasuriya is rated as one of the best all-rounders in the world..he seems to do the trick with his bowling so I still think both attacks are fairly even right now.

Come off it Tim.

The Sri Lankan back up to Vaas and Murali just doesn't exist.

SA have the likes of Adams, Hall, Kallis, not to mention Hayward, Pretorius, Zondeki etc.

All of those would walk into the SL line up ahead of the current crop.

Zondeki, Pretorious, Hall, Adams etc..all of who you were rubbishing before the Eng/S.A series..
