He is 26 and apparently plays grade cricket in Sydney during the winter with Mosman.
Certainly does - and what a great club we are :P

He hasn't been back for a year or 2 now though, with the academy etc. Hopefully he comes back - it helps the players to play grade out here.

Think Strauss, Pieterson, Stewart, Collingwood etc etc....

And have you noticed a trend that he has done well on the sub contenient and not as well away from it?
No, not really.

In Asia 9 18 1 637 122 37.47 1 4
Everywhere else 28 51 4 1877 161 39.94 2 14

I like the look of Pietersen...but then again I said that about Troughton and he hasn't really put it together just yet.

Everytime Pietersen scores a century for Notts it comes in less than 80 balls usually.

Damian Martyn does not move his feet much but he get's his hand's and head in close to perfect position. Trescthick does not even do that.

Well...what about this question:

How many times has Trescothick scored a high amount of runs in a crucial or close match (tests only)?

I don't know the answer, I just want to know because if he has then he shouldn't be called overrated..however if he's scored runs against pretty mediocre bowling attacks and with little pressure on him then I guess you can say he's a pretender.

So what does that tell you about him - doesn't make him sound like a Test batsman to me, but in ODI's, yes please.

As for Troughton not putting it together - when he was called up by England he had scored just 1 limited overs 50 in his career - so I for one don't know why he was selected.

In 4 day cricket, he's a much better player.

For the 1st year of his career, maybe longer, he every century he scored in all cricket for England (around 3-4) all came in a loosing cause.

Hmmmm, yet his record is much more impressive in 4D cricket, just the arguement you used for Troughton.

Pietersen's FC average is 52 scored at 75 runs every 100 balls or so. His OD average is 39. I wouldn't pidgeon-hole him as a OD player simply because of the rate of his scoring, especially if his FC average is far superior.

Hmmm.....Gilchrist.....
Gilchrist has been far less successful in the shorter game than most of the other Australian batsmen, yet he is one of the best batsmen in the world in Test matches. Interisting for someone pidgeon-holed as a OD player.

That's my point. I was saying that just because he plays that way doesn't necessarily mean that he will be better in ODI's.

The rate he scores at suggests he takes risks, and as with many other players, runs in that style will come in CC, but not necessarily in Tests, where the bowling is of a much higher quality.

Don't get me wrong, I hope he does blossom into a Test batsman, but I feel that he may need ot work on his technique a little first.

Perhaps I didnt explain myslef better but when I said he is better record in Asia is because he has high averages in each country.

I didn't realise that Pietersen still had to wait until 2005 to play for England.
