I think with all the evidence we have, it makes hardly any sense to think he would average something close with a 12 year career.
Doing better=Better contract. Greig wasn't one to shy away from money (see WSC). By his own admission he wouldn't crack SA XI during Apartheid era.
probably not, but I don't think it'd be that different, his batting average might come down a couple points but I don't think it'd change much about his career.

Yeah but 28 FC bowling average with 30-31 batting would get you most contracts, plus I don't know how strong a SA aparthied era XI would be honestly.

And won't crack the Indian team by his FC record, I know that too. Overall, I find Greig very overrated (especially jarring when people call him underrated) for playing all his matches in his peak. Just take a peek at FC and the truth becomes clear. Anyways, I think they are pretty equal batsmen (slight edge to Greig for a few Great innings) and Jadeja is a vastly superior bowler
Probably would, Nitish Reddy has a worse one. Greig definitely gets longetivity penalty,Anyway, Greig outputs 38.6 runs a inning and Jadeja 28.5, with all due respect, I don't think it's even close on the batting front.

Imo not more than 35. That's the most I can see Greig doing with a 12-13 year long career. And no, definitely averaging 40 would got him more contracts alongside his 30 something bowling avg

also rate Jadeja highly btw, best all rounder since Kallis so I've no bias against him.
Then I think it pretty much is I don't rate Greig highly at all. Think he is a balanced allrounder but not like Shakib or Faulkner, someone who would rather scrap by on balance. I would rate Stokes and Woolley ahead.

....so? I was discussing their international careers, Greig legit has the winning capability and stats of a full time fromtline batter, his away record is stellar, Jadeja is more in line with the batting of Kapil (tho I prefer the latter)

well then it's a thing of careers, I don't think it'd drop much considering Greig had a very solid trips, if he has a long stretch where he has to play all his games in England then maybe considering he seems flawed to side ways movement.

personally have Greig around Shakib, Shakib has played a lot longer but believe Greig in his international career was more impactful. Stokes I won't comment on, I agree on Faulkner and Wooler ahead of Greig.

I think it's alright then. I just don't rate really highly for his FC record. 35 is good, and better than Jadeja on quality, but don't think the difference is very big. I have Shakib easily ahead for basically being his team's best bowler and top 3 batsman. And once again, were credit is due, Greig has stellar knocks vs WI and Australia. I just use FC stats for players with very short Test careers for circumstances, and Greig's ones hurts him tremendously.

Shakib's numbers against the Big three + SA and even SL kind of leave a bad taste in my mouth

you're fine with your best player averaging 27 with the bat and 34 with the ball against the most challenging teams he can face?
My best batsman AND bowler, simultaneously doing that. I would rather not but if he is still the best just think how **** the rest are. Also, tbf his NZ and Pakistan record is pretty Great.

tbf NZ and Pak also served him some actual roads, Honestly? I rate Shakib, just not as highly as you do because of his record against the teams that would actually challenge him

It would've been one of strongest sides of all time with incredible allrounders who were better than both Greig and Jadeja.

Procter, Rice, & Barlow - Greig wouldn't have got a game.
