Like i said, i would like you to find me media clippings where they were lambasting opposition players in media.
The sources exist (archives) and i am sure you can reference back to 1980s or 1970s for many newpapers/media outlets that carry cricket.

Yes. Because of his trigger-happy approach towards the subcontinental players and letting aussies get away with murder in relative comparison.
Lloyd was VERY WIDELY respected during his playing days, particularly in IND, where no other WI batsman enjoyed that much popularity from that era, apart of Viv and Kallicharan.

Aye. There has always been sledging.
But there has never been this level of crassness and crudeness...particularly the kinda sledges Pidgeon throws around.

Like i said,there is a difference between calling someone a fat bus conductor and the guy quipping 'ticket please' while dismissing you.....or Dilley telling viv richards that its round, red and shiny <upon Viv missing a few balls> and then Viv telling him 'you know what it looks like..now go find it' after whacking him outta the ballpark and telling someone 'what does Lara's d*ck taste like ?' or 'I'm gonna rip yer F*cking throat off'.

The former examples are witty,humorous and good for the game.
The latter ones are crude, crass and befitting hooligans.
And you'd notice that i am not slagging the aussies. I mentioned that i found Merv Hughes' comment witty, funny and a good sledge and last time i checked, the rotund and long whiskered fast medium bowler was an aussie.
What i said is i have a problem with the uncouth sledging *THIS* aussie team dishes out.

I dont endorse crude and crass remarks like McGrath's.

Go to www.caribbeancricket.com, see the interview posted there of Mikey Holding, where he says this Aussie side would fold against the WI of the 70s and 80s inside four days.

i think that is an exgaggeration from Holding's part but i dont doubt that the WI of the 70s and 80s would beat this OZ team.
If one express-paced Akhtar can derail the OZ batting and get them to 80-5 before being taken off the attack and the OZ feasting on buffet bowling, four express-paced bowlers, each of whom were better than Akhtar will eat ya all alive.

OZ are the leaders in the game and they have revolutionised the game.
But their cricketer's behaviour leaves a LOT to be desired.
And they have NOT accomplished what the WI of the 70s/80s have achieved and whom i rate as the best team ever, narrowly beating out Bradman's invincibles.

That interview was done in 2001 when WI visited OZ and got thumped.
