Ask yourself if Tendy has ever had a combination like Amrbose/Walsh as his bowlers?Clapo said:Ask yourself though has Tendulkar won/saved as many games for India as Lara has singlehandedly for West Indies?
India would have taken Ian Bishop with open arms, even knowing his career would be ruined by injury!silentstriker said:Ask yourself if Tendy has ever had a combination like Amrbose/Walsh as his bowlers?
Yea, its ludicrous to compare 'matches won' considering what type of pace bowlers he had to work with.Jono said:India would have taken Ian Bishop with open arms, even knowing his career would be ruined by injury!
But in the mean time, vote in Sir Viv before them.silentstriker said:Yea, its ludicrous to compare 'matches won' considering what type of pace bowlers he had to work with.
We all know how important bowling is to winning (cough, Ashes, cough).
I am not dismissing Lara, and I will vote for him as soon as Sachin gets in because IMO there isn't all that much to separate them. But personally, he wins out because of consistency. Though I have a feeling that if I was born in West INdies, I might go Lara. But hopefully, if I was born in a neutral place, I'd still go Sachin...but who knows?
Ask yourself if Lara has had Kumble with a couple of other decent to very good spinners to win matches at home every single match he has played at home throughout his career?silentstriker said:Ask yourself if Tendy has ever had a combination like Amrbose/Walsh as his bowlers?
Well, Ambrose and Walsh performed home and away, as opposed to the Indian spinners. In short, this can go on forever and ever. Both played in generally mediocre teams.honestbharani said:Ask yourself if Lara has had Kumble with a couple of other decent to very good spinners to win matches at home every single match he has played at home throughout his career?
Now, we decided earlier to keep this thread (and the parallel thread) clear of Warne-Murali or Lara-Tendulkar debate, so let's stick to that and not clog this up too much.adharcric said:Well, Ambrose and Walsh performed home and away, as opposed to the Indian spinners. IMO, Lara and Tendulkar are pretty much equal; who you rate higher depends on whether you prefer consistency (SRT) or massive scores (BCL).
