It wasn't deliberate..otherwise it would be match-fixing. He was just all at sea, but you can't blame him coming into this current Sri Lankan side, the way things are right now. Their confidence must be close to rock bottom.

Healy is the most pathetic commentator i've heard.
he always try to find excuses for the things aussies do wrong and never fails to find a fault when the opposition does something good.
he's the worst commentator ever next to boycott.

I’ve had the telly on mute the whole game, can't stand the coverage.

Jayawardene out but well played considering the situation.

Well you must surely have to question the credentials of Tom Moody, considering this lack of form has coincided with his arrival. But let's not forget that politics plays a terrible part in Sri Lankan cricket and that can't be helping much either.

Atapattu, Tharanga, Jayawardene, Sangakkara, Dilshan, Arnold should be the top 6 for SL in ODIs IMO. If Atapattu doesn't want to open, and SL want either Mubarak or Vandort (despite his slow knock today he's been touted as a good batsman and has done well in SL domestic cricket) in the ODI team then Atapattu could drop to 3, Sanga would then come in front of Jayawardene at 4, and the rest drop down 1 spot.

I'm still in disbelief that Atapattu batted 7 today. Whether he wanted the others to get a bat when the game was out of reach, they could still have tried to get the bonus point rather than letting Australia get it. Pretty silly stuff IMO.

That was a peculiar run chase up their with what are lads were doing in Pakistan. Michael Vandort really did kill the whole game, it was nigh impossible for his team-mates to achieve anything after his knock. Also if you going to have someone like Marvin Atapattu in your team he has to either open the innings or bat at 3 not at 5 or 6 or in this games case 7.

Yeah, but the other batsmen need to take some slack too. None of them are getting enough runs or going on with the job. Today wasn't just a one-off...this has been happening for over 2 series now & Vandort shouldn't shoulder the blame for today's poor run chase. Sure, he was poor to say the least at times..but none of them seem to know their role or what they're trying to achieve out there.

Obviously Vandort's strike rate is a huge issue here, but I don't know how well many of you know the Sri Lanka batting line-up but let me tell you if he had been dismissed in that early Lee spell there would have been about a 75% chance the rest would have fallen very cheaply. Realistically, I think we all knew that SL had no chance of chasing down the total. I have a lot of hopes for Vandort and though he didn't deliver I was impressed that he stuck it out and looked pretty solid even though he was clearly out of his element. My main concern about him is he didn't look like hitting a four of any off the pace bowlers, and when I say: "he didn't look like hitting a four", I mean even his "booming" played and misses didn't look like they'd go for much more than 2 runs if he had connected. The stuff against Hogg was good, its nice to see a Sri Lankan batsman lofting straight again, it seems like post '96 all we've been producing is cut and sweep merchants. Bottom line, I'd pursue him a bit longer and see if he can score at a decent rate at this level or not, but he'd either have to open or play low down in the order.

Personally, you couldn’t pay me enough to put Mubarak in any side other than as a substitute fielder. In retrospect I’d probably open the batting with Atapattu. I’d still bat Dilshan before Jayawardene. Jayawardene is too passive, I’ve never seen him even try take to an attack before he is on at least 30. I’d rather play an unknown entity over Russel Arnold, he is basically in the side as a insurance plan, and when it gets down to it he never delivers because either a) at the time he looks out of sorts. b) it’s outs of his hands before he even faces a ball or c) all of the above. I agree with Jason about what he said early on in the thread about Sri Lanka missing Chandana. Our bowling attack has no variation. Maharoof might also be someone to think about again, he gives us some lower order strike power with the bat, but then he doesn’t really deliver on that enough nor does he bowl well enough on a regular basis.

What do people think is the ideal batting line up for SL at this stage and/or what other changes would you make to this line up?

Perera is a blatent chucker.

Bracken's figures phenomenal.

Atapattu and Jayawardene batting too low. Should be 4 and 5 at lowest.

Overall poor performance by Sri Lanka. They seem just to be a formality. Australia Vs. South Africa final. Sri Lanka to go along winless.

Its been mentioned by plenty of other people on this board that he has a dodgy action. So I don't know whats with your 'finally' statement.

I love handing out a good thrashing and all that... but those last 30 overs were really dull.

I hate Pup. Ruined a Clown century. He better buy Symonds a keg.

I love Australian crowds. Murali bowls... "NO BALL!" There were also some good looking women out there who held up a "MARRY US, ROY" sign. Until some men took them, that is.

Chingoka and Bvute need to take control of Sri Lankan cricket.

if it wasnt for vandort SL would have been all out for 120. Sl lost the game when vaas bowled that noball to Martyn, second time in 2 weeks he has done this, lost the 3rd odi to NZ as well becasue he got Astle of a no-ball and then astle continued to smash 18 runs of his over. Too bad jayawardena made a 50 today now he is garunteed 5 more innings and 5 more failures. Sl need a home series FAST!!!
