Then all I can say is that Brad Hodge is one lucky lucky man. He has a chance to put his name forward for World Cup selection and he blew it last night.

And what does Jaques have to do to get in the squad, let alone the eleven?

During the latest Sri Lanka v Aus on Channel 9's coverage, there was a question about which was the first team to score 300 in a ODI but i had to answer the door and by the time i had come back it had gone

What was the answer?

Jaques will still play in the world cup.

Ah yes, the 'also-ran' championship. It was commented at the time that the match was between the two worst fielding sides in the world at that time. I've got highlights of the match somewhere and I have no doubt that was absolutely true.........

For Sunday's game at the WACA If Jayasuriya is fit SL should play its best XI as its extremely important to give their best shot at it .

My selection considering that WACA's pace and bounce will suit us playing 4 seamers( 3 in the team and 1 supersub is the best possible way of achieving this IMO ) .

Jayasuriya
Mubarak
Sangakkara
Jayawardene
Atapattu
Dilshan
Arnold/Tharanga
Vaas
Dilhara Fernando
Kulasekera
Murali

Super Sub Ruchira Perera

Lostman

State Captain
nah i still like playing bandara in place of Fernando,
the extra bounce my might favor him. Sl should also open the bwling with kulasekara he has been really good the last few games. I have no idea why they opened with gamagae last game he let off the australians easy during the 1st 10 overs.

By the way did anyone notice that SL has the most number of Captains simultaneously !!

After Atapattu left, it was almost comical to see Vaas (the Team Vice Captain) and Mahela (the previous Vice Captain) each trying to outdo the other by setting the field and trying to control the bowling changes on Thursday .

Sangakkara tried to settle it somewhat, but it was obvious both these two were trying to enforce their authority !:D

I hope they settle this before tomorrow's game, to avoid any repetition of this comical show.

I hope Atapattu is fit and if he is not I hope the Management gets it clear to the players involved, who the actual Vice Captain is , instead of these two wrestling on the field and then settling into a Captaincy by Committee mode as clearly seen on Thursday.

Vaas is the current Vice Captain and should be allowed to do his job.

But if Team unity is at stake, then perhaps Sanath J should take over Captaincy till Atapattu is fully fit (or whenever he is off the field) .

I'm praying Atapattu wins the toss and bats first, otherwise the SS will be useless.

We can't always expect to bat first and set targets. The team needs to learn to chase targets as well. The other night against SA the target was modest and they came up short, so they need to learn to do that aspect of the game better. Also this Supersub rule is damn useless because it gives the toss winning captain an unfair advantage.

You could say the aussies were disadvantaged against us at the SCG because of their naming Brad Hogg as Super Sub.

This game tomorrow starts at 6:15 PM NZ time and has the potential to go on till 2:15 AM on Monday morning NZ time if the full 50 overs of both innings are played out !!!:-O

I guess I should consider myself lucky that Monday is a holliday for me. :)

Having said that going by previous SL performances at the WACA , if SL bat like their previous encounters there , they may not bat the full 50 overs.

SL should definitely learn to cope with the pressure when chasing. And I agree with u on the SS rule, they should change it so teams can choose after the toss.
