Let me start my first post on this board with props to Australians. They truly are a few notches above all other teams. What a batting performance! Shoddy fielding by Indians definitely didn't help their cause.

With a weakened Aussie attack, Indians should at least be able to put up a fight.

Welcome, TendulkarFan....hope you enjoy the sense of community here at CW :)

I will be very surprised if India get above 300 (would love for it to happen but doubt it will). Chasing a total that big is just too much pressure from the very start so think India might falter. However, as Tim said, the pitch is a good one, the Australians are down on bowlers so if it was ever going to happen....it's now.

Thanks PY. I read the boards here yesterday and found most of the posts knowledgeable and respectful.

As for Indian reply, to be honest with you, a score of 300+ will surprise me just as much as 150 all out because when it comes to inconsistency, India comes second only to Pakistan. However in my opinion, a win is out of the question unless one of the aggressive guys (Sehwag, Tendulkar, Ganguly) plays an innings of his life.

How good is Kaspa bowling!!!!!?

Just had Shewag dropped twice in the one over. Hayden's was regulation, Martyn's would have been a speckie!

It has been the story of his international career.

This definately has shades of the WC Final to me, Ponting getting an unbeaten 100, India's much hyped bowling attack getting absolutely murdered. Nehra, or "The Young Akram" as he has hillariously been referred to as by a former member of this board, goes for 80 wicketless runs, Khan goes for 67...

I don't think I need to remind you of their figures in Nehra's last International...the WC Final...

Tendulkar gone for 89. India doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell (unless we use PY's rule)...they need nearly nine an over. Could make slightly more than 300, but that depends on Dravid and Ganguly prottecting their wickets...which will give them no chance of winning. They just have to start slogging now to win - ah, who am I kidding. They'll go down so badly :(

143 needed from 16 overs definatley a BIG Chance...

Dravid and Ganguly in and with Yuvraj and Kaif to come the chance is there...

They just need to play it smart keep going at 6-7 an over for the next 10 then cut loose...

I have a bad feeling about this...

Will it help to tell you that Ganguly just went (well you obviously know, but still)? India still need 10 an over - that's 2 fours and 2 singles, or 1 four, 1 two and 4 singles...

106 needed from 11 ovs. I still maintain it's impossible, even with Dravid and Yuvraj (who just hit two good fours).

EDIT: Should be pretty much done now. Dravid's gone too after an excellent catch by Kasprowicz. Kaif start with 2 dot-balls, India need 94 from 54 balls.

Gorn, Unless Kaif and Kumble can hit 70 odd from 14 balls...

good win for the Aussies and one that could see India out of the tournament...

Australia win by 61 runs. So a final play-off between India and NZ awaits...if a draw I don't really know what happens :)

Still think that they should beat the Black Caps though - crunch time in front of the home crowd. I think Ganguly and Dravid will stand up to it. Good knock by Tendulkar, otherwise pretty mediocre all round by India.

These Aussies are simply awesome...!!:wow:

Whoever gets into the final(NZ or India) will have play out of their skins to have any chance at all....:wow:

What a great victory by Australia :D

Gilchrist's 111 off 104 balls and Ponting's 108 off 103 balls made the Indian bowling attack look very, very poor.

Martyn and Hayden also provided good support.

What are the NRRs like right now between NZ and IND? Unless they're gonna go the way of the VB series and do a backtrack and see who performed better in their head to head matches which would see NZ into the final wouldn't it?

Another great win for us.:)

Finally Ponting hits some form. Good to see you back mate!:)
Well Ponting wasn't exactly out of form with a 52 in the 7th match of the tri-series against NZ. Though it was good to see him hit a century.
