NZ 204 with 7 overs to go..who knows, maybe 240/250 is reachable with the way these two are batting.

Oram hits a lofted 4 back down the ground.

and then Symonds follows up with a rib-tickler.

And another 4, Oram is in sensational form...beautiful shots with the full face of the bat, and 4 more..this is unbelievable.

lol & then he's bowled..but still a good innings & NZ have at least put up a decent score..he maybe should have kept calm & blocked it.

oh and look what happens Harris just throws his wicket away.

Harris & Nevin should forget about playing for NZ again, and maybe Vincent too in ODI's.
I couldnt agree anymore with you.

WHat does Nevin offer New Zealand? He is failing with the bat, he has too many technical flaws, and is not 'keeping, so what is he a fielder now?

Harris is getting picked on reputation, and as Frank Worrell once said:"If you dont preform, you dont make the team." How true is that.

Thing is, when Astle comes back, he should open with Fleming, and NZ need a good number 3, McIntosh or Cumming would be ideal.

Yep well done Oram for 81. NZ have done very well to get to this point.

McCullum looks as though he's starting to find his feet at international level..I reckon NZ should drop Nevin & play McCullum at the top of the order.

I'd also be tempted to bring Jesse Ryder into the NZ team during the home series.

Vettori spanks a good shot down the ground.

NZ are saved by the fact that they bat down to 10.

NZ have extremely poor averages in the ODI format..but I think the younger guys especially are starting to make improvements.

Guys like Harris & Nevin look like they're decreasing their averages & that needs to be addressed quickly.

Well none of the New Zealander's are particularly imposing, but they do play well as a team (most of the time), and they have a lot of players who are bit of this and that, and someone usually comes to the party. Not to mention Stephen Fleming is a great contemporary leader.

NZ will need to use the new ball well because this pitch looks ideal for the Australian batsmen..I think if Australia get off to a good start then it'll be a walk for them.

Yeah you're right, NZ don't have many guys that other teams would be scared of, I mean even the Zimbabwe bowlers would feel confident against the likes of Nevin, Vincent & Styris. But I think some of the newer players have potential & may gain bigger reputations in a few years time.
NZ just need to sort out their stupid selection issues.

Like Chris Harris, I assume? He has served NZ pretty well over the years, but he's too much like an out of form Michael Bevan for my liking.

I think Harris has been free-loading for the last 2 years..he's been very suspect with the bat & his bowling has not been as affective as it used to be.

I mean even Vettori is batting better than him, so why not play Vettori ahead of Harris?

McCullum continues to play some awesome shots...this will really give his confidence a boost.

I'm not sure selection is a huge problem right now beyond Chris Nevin, who really does not deserve his spot. I think its the batting order that needs a bit of experimenting first. There's some guys who could be really explosive, and if not effective, there's the snails pace of Chris Harris down the order.. If nothing else they'll last the 50 overs one would think :D
