Let's settle this by saying Gayle's better.....
* VS has been touted as SRT clone by the media, when he isn't even equal to SRT's shadow.Pratyush said:You first claimed he does not desrve so much hype. So try to prove that first.
I agree. Glad we managed to settle that.Buddhmaster said:Let's settle this by saying Gayle's better.....
You can try convincing yourself on that one. I am convinced (and stats suggest that as well) that Gayle is a better batsman in almost every possible way.Pratyush said:Run difference almost the same but percentage run difference not almost the same. So the comparison is not good enough as I already said.
Some one with an average of 16 with a strike rate of 14 would be a far worse batsman compared to Afridi than Afridi would be compared to Sehwag.
A better average does not necessarily mean you are the better batsman, specially when the other batsman has a much better strike rate. Do not state the Afridi example again as I said not necessarily. It may or may not depending on specific cases.Sanz said:You can try convincing yourself on that one. Certainly some hype there.Sanz said:* VS has been touted as SRT clone by the media, when he isn't even equal to SRT's shadow.
Please show me stats with links.* Since WC 2003 he has average less than Sourav Ganguly (need I go on)
Again, please show me stats.* Except year 2002, he has been mediocre
In quite a few series - a bad run no doubt.* He has been mediocre in almost every series he has played in.
If I show you the stats with links , would you accept that VS has been hyped too much ?Pratyush said:please show me stats.
Regarding Sehwag being compared to Sehwag yes that was hype.Sanz said:If I show you the stats with links , would you accept that VS has been hyped too much ?
Since World Cup 2003, Sehwag has been India's worst Batsman :-Pratyush said:Please show me stats with links.
Please link me to Sehwag's stats /Sanz said:Since World Cup 2003, Sehwag has been India's worst Batsman :-
SRT - 44.46, Md. Kaif - 40.51, RD - 39.87,VVS - 37.51, Dhoni - 37.50,Yuvraj singh - 32.81, Ganguly 30.50 , Sehwag - 28.89, Pathan - 24.23,
Sehwag's obviously way better than Sehwag.Pratyush said:Regarding Sehwag being compared to Sehwag yes that was hype.
If you click on the link, you will notice that Sehwag's stats are also there, it is basically a comparison of Sehwag & Ganguly's stats since WC 2003.Pratyush said:Please link me to Sehwag's stats /
Tendulkar. TypoAdamc said:Sehwag's obviously way better than Sehwag.
2003 and 2005 have not been that bad when you compare it with his career average of 31.8!Sanz said:If you click on the link, you will notice that Sehwag's stats are also there, it is basically a comparison of Sehwag & Ganguly's stats since WC 2003.
Anyways as for stats for Sehwag's performance in every year since 1999, apart from the highleighted part he has been medoicre. -
1999 - 1.00
2000 - 19.00
2001 - 29.26
2002 - 41.85

Err Gayle has more 100s, more 50s in less matches than VS, how does he become more inconsistent than VS ?Pratyush said:Also regarding the consistency bit which you were pointing out, Gayle would have a much higher standard deviation considering he has far biggers scores and more inconsistent on hindsight.
Inconsistency and consistency would be derived by s.d and not by 100s and 50s.Sanz said:Err Gayle has more 100s, more 50s in less matches than VS, how does he become more inconsistent than VS ?
Link to Gayle stats please. And we again come back to strike rate and how around 30 with a strike rate of 95 is quite good.Sanz said:I wont call 2003 & 2005 as good, It is certainly below avg. for me and underserving to get a call for World XI ahead of someone scored @51.63 in 2003, @38 in 2004, @35 in 2005.
