*Official* Sri Lanka Tour of Australia 2019

So Starc makes the first breakthrough. Hopefully this signals greater things from him.

This Sri Lankan side have been thoroughly outclassed here so far. No question that they're courageous and are trying to be positive but they simply don't have the players to thrive in these conditions.

Maybe some BBL stints are in order for some Sri Lankans to get more familiar with Australian conditions. How's their summer schedule looking...

Genuine question - if the two sides just shook hands now and agreed to call off the rest of this match, would anyone actually care? I seriously doubt anyone would.

That's what's known in scientific circles as The SL Tour Effect. Turning even the most rabid cricket fanatics off the game since 1985.

It certainly doesn't help that most people are back at work and due to the time zone there's no real chance of catching any after work either.

Cummins averaging around 9 for the series, which would be poor if it was with the bat instead of the ball.

Yeah but there's just no interest because there's never any interest when SL tours here. It basically sets the game back every time they come here. It's the cricketing equivalent of living with a chronically depressed person - it literally just sucks the energy out of the air knowing you have to endure it, no matter how much you might love them. Honestly, SL tours are the ****ing pits.

For the public it hasn't been the best spectacle but honestly it's nice to get in a good old minnow pounding before the summer is out. After the embarrassment of losing to India this is just what the doctor ordered.

I'd rather Ireland, Bangladesh or Afghanistan for that purpose tbh. At least they haven't got 30 plus years of insipid baggage to carry through customs when they get here. It's one thing not to have won a series in a given country, but fmd to have not won a single ****ing test in however many attempts over several decades is ****ing woeful.

No runs all summer and suddenly we have 4 hundreds in the same game from Australia. One can only imagine what Smith would've piled on against this attack.

This has probably been the least competitive SL side to tour Australia which considering some of their previous efforts is quite an achievement.

Australia should've enforced the follow on yesterday and it wouldn't have even gotten to a 4th day. Just dragged out the game unnecessarily and got Khawaja the easiest ton he's ever likely to get.

Bangladesh or Afghanistan would probably be better tbh. It's stupid that we refuse to host Bangladesh at any stage but give SL prime time series every few years.
