Anyone reckon NZ will change their side? I think they'll stick with the same team but there is an outside chance of Astle dropping out for Taylor..I highly doubt it though.

Somebody questioned me about selecting McCullum and Ryder up the order for the ODI series. Ryder I think is a bit of a pipe dream but I think we will certainly see McCullum open the batting in the ODI's.

The only changes I can see are if Styris and/or Mills are fit...and Martin might have kept Mills out with his effort in Christchurch.

If Styris is fit he'll probably come in for Sinclair, or maybe How with Sinclair opening.

How looks a little clueless against spin which is a bit of a concern. I don't think Styris will be risked for the 2nd test, neither will Mills. I think if they're fit they'll play the ODI series.

I think the fast bowlers to partner Bond & Mills in the ODI squad will be either Michael Mason or Andre Adams, or maybe both.
Considering NZ has alot of ODI cricket coming up, if Styris is better off playing for N.D then the selectors might just opt to rest him and play Taylor instead.

Adams looks in good form for once, hope he can continue it in the ODI series. He really is one of our best when he's in good form...and one of our worst when he's not.

It looks as though he's playing with purpose right now. He's been blamed before for being too lax and casual but he's a player with a fair amount of x factor when he turns up on the day. He's a player I think could help win the cup for NZ, but he needs to be focussed.

I hope New Zealand stick to the same side for the 2nd test but if Jamie How fails again I suggest sending him back to play for Central Districts to work on his game and score runs more consistently. Scott Styris and Kyle Mill's should be rested for the first few ODI's just to make sure their injuries have completed healed and bringing in Andre Adams and Ross Taylor would be a good idea.

Why open with McCullum in ODIs? What has he done to deserve opening? Isn't his top score in domestic one-day games 56 or something, despite being given opportunities to open domestcally?

No doubt he has a lot of talent, but he simply isn't performing. He doesn't deserve the chance until we actually, you know, see some form from him. And I'm not talking about a quick 30-40 runs.

You are correct. But before McCullum began his first class career he was an opener for the NZ U19's and initially started opening for Otago before NZC filed him as a lower order batsman. In the last year he's been opening for Canterbury and Glamorgan, and you're right..he's only been hitting 30's and 40's. But if you ask me, we need his kind of aggression at the top of the order and I guess im just hoping he'll step up at international level.

I'd like to think Jason doesn't represent Sri Lankans.

You want him speaking for you?
No way and not by a long shot.

(I'd rather be dead in a ditch before that happens)

The question was not addressed to you . It was addressed to someone who has been in this forum long enough to be considered worthy of giving an opinion on this . So we are not intersted in your opinion .

And by the way I would rather you are not considered representing the SL view point .

Just because he hasn't been on the forum longer than you doesn't mean no-one will be interested in his opinion.

In fact, I'm more interested in his opinion than yours, right now.

Atleast we have a reasonably netural opinion and don't go blaming the pitch or the umpires.

Well it's obviously going to be slightly biased in favour of the Black Caps in my case because I am a New Zealand fan, but you don't here me blaming the pitch for our poor batting displays.
