***Official** Sri Lanka in New Zealand

Thanks for coming Sri Lanka

No really.

I hope it has been said by others. No matter how the test and ODI series turn out I think we need to appreciate the fact that Sri Lanka toured when all others - except AUS & ENG for obvious reasons - were not interested in giving us a go. Anyway, the ODIs will be close and provide good practice ahead of the many games against AUS.

And for their continued commitment to NZ I will be supporting them when NZ is not their opponent.

When do NZl play a test series away from home next ?

I'd like to see how Bond and FRanklin shape up away from their green tops.....would like to see how good Bond really is.

I agree with you regarding Franklin, but I think Bond's shown more than enough to prove that he could be a handful on any wicket.

I don't think we play an away series in all of next year...not sure about that though.

Bond has shown how good he is outside NZ...VB Series in Australia and World Cup in South Africa spring to mind, as well as his being instrumental in our test series win in the West Indies.

Yeah I was talking more in terms of tests.....Bond is a good bowler but he is still pretty unproven at test level I feel. He hasn't bowled in England or Australia/subcontinent much has he ......in the little he has, his figures weren't brilliant ?

Well said and whole heartedly agree :)

Are you Richard in disguise???

First of all, the Christchurch pitch was not a green top. Second, even on a green top, you still have to pitch the ball in the right place.

Bond's only tests in Australia were his debut tests, so you can hardly blame him for not setting the world on fire straight away. Against that kind of opposition, who does?

On a side note - gotta laugh at Jason. Seriously, what a cretin.

I actually think Bond bowled with luck. It wasn't absolutely fantastic

Is it me, or is the media largely pushing this runout issue? I do, however, find it slightly ironic that Murali is the person McCullum ran out, given he's a disgrace and a cheater himself.

The media is making a bigger deal out of it than it needs to be in my opinion. Muralitharan knows he made a mistake and the Sri Lankan team and management all know this and the Black Caps are happy with the decision that McCullum made.

There was nothing made of this when the same thing happened in Zimbabwe. The media have nothing better to talk about at the moment IMO so they just take a small issue and exagerate it to make it something that its not and therefore they get more viewers (or listeners). I thought the clip of him getting run-out from side-on looked quite funny.

He played two tests and got a wicket in each test. In his debut he got Steve Waugh for duck (could've been golden, too) and in the second he got Justin Langer for a duck. They were big wickets, even though he didn't get any others in the innings :( But the Langer one was the most important. He and Hayden had put on two 200+ partnerships in the previous tests and Bond got him straight away.

Can we move on from the run out thing now? Seriously, it's already old and boring.

Just read a report that said Styris will most likely be kept in cotton wool till the World Cup. If he's feeling good, there's a chance he could make the Chappell Hadlee series to play some competitive cricket.

So it looks like Ross Taylor is going to get some game-time.

Awesome. I hope Taylor plays in Australia. I haven't seen him bat live yet.

I agree, although I would like to see Maharoof there and I think he would suit New Zealand conditions with both his batting and bowling, he can get a bit of movement off the seam and he is very good technically with the bat, get's in behind the ball very well.

Maharoof is not good enough to play outside the subcontinent in tests IMO. he might get wickets once in a while but he's just not good enough.

Is Dilhara good enough to play Tests or ODIs for that matter?
