Haha, Jason, you're a crack up.
So are you matey , particularly after you said this -

NZTailender said:
By the way, Jason, Sri Lanka were looking to do the same thing. Jayawardene held on to the ball for ages after taking it when Murali was bowling, hoping the batsman would walk out of his crease to garden etc.

Oh? Didn't you notice that part of the game. The umpires had to have a word to Jayawardene about it, as well.

They would... wouldn't they .. I would've expected nothing less from the 2 umpires at this Test who effectively helped NZ establish the first innings lead with regard to Fleming and Vettori who were out several times over (Fleming to Malinga, Murali and Vaas and Vettori to Murali).

And then after the disgarceful dismissal of Murali by Macullum , they would have a word to Prasanna J... oh the irony of it all.....

Go on, have a whinge. You were outplayed and can't handle it.

It isn't irony. McCullum didn't pre-meditate running Murali out when he went to congratulate Kumar on his 100. I don't think he saw that coming, a few balls earlier.

Jayawardene, however, was distinctly looking for an opportunity to get the batsman out by holding onto the ball longer.

Outplayed yes . But not by much, in fact it should have been both teams on par - into the second innings.

SL batted poorly twice, so didn't deserve to win, but NZ didn't play any significantly better .
The lead was contributed by the poor umpiring of both Taufel and Jerling. It would have been an even closer Test and SL may have won it or NZ would've won it by a cliff hanger .
But the difference was contributed by some poor decisions on the second morning and a series of unfortunate events . ie Sanath J dismissal , the stupid run outs etc. and the last was the Murali one.

I hope you won't have reason to whinge come the ODI series...

Why would I? We can't lose the test series and thats more important to me than a ODI series

I think the next test will be a cracker and expect it to be another close result. I'm hoping Kumar can repeat his excellent batting and Bond his fine bowling. :)

I am hoping Murali will get a 10 wicket haul to stifle those who call him Stupid and to compensate for his error here .

And I hope McCullum scores an unbeaten 100 and takes a number of catches to stifle those people that called him a disgrace and un-sporting, etc. :p

I was really impressed with Cumming in this match, even though he was a bit lucky to say the least with all the no-ball wickets. In fact, if I was picking a NZ team of the decade so far I'd have him opening with Richardson - probably says more about the other openers we've had than it does about him though.

This does mean that I don't ever want to hear any more Kiwi whinging about the underarm ball however :p
Never going to happen. Don't know how it was even called a legal ball in the first place. Even if you bowl underarm you have to have the ball pitch two or less times without rolling the ball along the ground.

Agreed somewhat (not sure about the team of the decade part).

I think he needs a good solid run at the top. I have an awful feeling though, with so long between tests after this 2nd one, he won't be remembered after the World Cup by selectors :(

Jamie How deserves this one last test match though. But at the same time, there is all that time between tests and he may absolutely go nuts in First Class and play in the next test series.

Of the other openers we've used since 2000 the only one I actually rate is Matt Horne, and I admit I forgot him when I made my last post. Cumming doesn't seem that far worse than him though, and he's a lot better than most of the others we've seen.

Vincent has a decent record opening (average of 32 or so) but I wouldn't bat him there anymore.

I'd like to think Jason doesn't represent Sri Lankans.

You want him speaking for you?

Thanks Mate, I love my country because its my mother (after My mum) . I love it so much.

It gave me more opportunities than any other country I have been, and its people regardless of race treat me like their own brother, even if I have been in foreign lands, they treat me with love and affection like no other copuntry.... thats why its my motherland and I love them all even if they are fighting ,,, I wish they would stop because they are all my countrymen and I love them so much you wouldn't believe.... We have to be a United Country ....because we are all the same mate... we are a great country.... and I am crying because we are fighting amongst us ....but when it comes to anyone against us we are United Mate ....we are a proud nation we must do better
