I'm not sure if mcmillan will make it.

Basically 10 players from this game are guaranteed a spot imo. The only missing could be mills. And if wiseman is dropped then it wil be another spinner bruce martin

So that leaves at max 5 places.

If everyone is fit then You can add Shane Bond, Jacob oram, scott styris and daniel vettori as certainties. that makes 14 in the squad.
The other one could be another wicket keeper esp if its a sa tour, or maybe another opener.
Bond from what i heard will only go on the ODI tour, it too much of a risk IMO to take him on the Test legs as well. Vincent is the spare keeper and and either How, Papps or McMillan will go as the spare batsmen. Tuffey may come in for Bond as the spare fast bowler. Are you guys really going to risk him in Test so soon after his comeback.

Matt Sinclair will probably be forgotten for the entire year and then come back into the side this time next year

Bond was fit to play Australia.. he is just taking things very slowly.

I think he will be right to play the tests in Africa

How will certainly not debut as an opener in South Africa. If they were going to play him it would be against Zimbabwe & I doubt NZ will drop Cumming at this stage..so therefore How gets to go to Sri Lanka instead.

Hopkins is by far the best keeper in NZ & he's definately improved his batting over the last 2 years...he'd have to start scoring a bucket load of runs to replace McCullum though.

Oh yeah I forgot about Sinclair..yeah he'll definately go to Sri Lanka but I think time is running out for him at international level.

I would be surprised if he didn't make the A side and also wasn't Bell the captain of the A Team a while back.

My NZ test 15 squad to Africa assuming everyone is fit

Openers..

J.Marshall
J.How/ P Fulton
H Marshall
S Fleming
Astle
Mccullum
Oram
Styris
Bond
Martin
Vettori
Franklin
Butler
B.Martin

Either How or Fulton need to step up to the opening position as they are both good back foot players and we will need that in Africa

I'd drop ...Cumming, Mills, O'Brien and Wiseman just overshadowed by B.martin
where is vincent????

I wouldn't play him in Test aganist Zimbabwe but, give O'Brien or Mills a run at them.

Cumming hasn't done enough to be dropped
he has noticeable technical problems with his front and back leg that Good bowlers will exploit very quickly and he doesn't score quickly enough, even though I realise an openers job is primarily to see off the new ball.

From a spectators point of view I wasn't disappointed when he got out today because if found him tedious to watch.

I don't think he's another Mark Richardson either - He doesn't look nearly as solid. That, and with the fact he's no spring chicken means i'd go for one of the yound fellas in How or Fulton.

I ask you Blaze....Has he done enough to retain his spot??

I wouldn't have thought his record of .......

5 9 1 208 74 26.00 0 1

has hardly set the world on fire.

Neither of those players will ever succeed for NZ at test level.

They might as well take over Sherlock or Davis with Butler if they want to develop depth. Those three guys could take wickets against the best at test level

Where did u hear that Chamina?? Is news to me and i'm betting it would be news to Shane Bond Too. It was the Aust and Sri lankan series that was considered too soon.

You have to play games at Internation level to have success they haven't played enough to really rate them in Test Cricket.

According to Bracewell, Fulton also has backfoot issues & he also believes that How is not ready.
So I think the best option is to stick with Cumming since he's played the toughest cricket out of all 3 of them this summer.

I reckon guys on the fringe like How, Fulton, O'Brien, Butler - should be positively found county contracts to play county cricket in the off season - that will help them become better players when they make their eventual Test Debuts.

He has been facing some of the best bowlers the world has ever seen from AUS though

and in nearly every innings he has hung around until the new ball has been seen off. He could potentialy hold down the openers role for 5 years or so, so age is not an issue. I would persevere with him until at least the end of the year

Yes they have. Neither of them have the potential to be good test bowlers.

It was a while back near the start of a Sri Lankan Test Series where he said he only wanted to play ODIs to start off with and build up from their, maybe his fitness has improved since then, i'll try and find the article. There been a lot said and written about his comeback so it had to know if it is true or if you don't live in NZ.
