Vincent i'd suggest has done enough against Aus & S.L to book a flight to Zim/S.A ahead of Craig McMillan in August.
Vincent looks much more suited to around #5 or #6. He definately looks more solid than the last time he was playing for NZ last year.
Wouldn't they both make the sqaud anyway, unforunately infront of Fulton.

Great Batting display by NZ . Vincent and Fleming have done well.

Now I don't want to be perceived is harking back to the same old...same old umpiring thing again, But I hope Darrel Hair remains consistent with regard to LBWs.

If he's made it his decision not to give even the absolute plumb ones that's fine, but I hope then he doesn't do a backflip and start giving them when SL are batting !!

I reckon there were several bloody close ones that I hope he remains consistent when SL are batting. Got to feel sorry for Vaas !
Frustrating isn't it when crucial decisions seem to go against your team and sri lanka have definately been given the rough end of the stick so far.

Kinda refreshing though from a NZers point of view after everything went Australia's way earlier in the summer. Although that fact hardly makes it any better from Sri Lanka's point of view.

You Sri Lankans crack me up..

Don't get me wrong you are top blokes from what I have read but you make me laugh
I am pleased we are able to amuse you. Can't say the reverse about you though !!

I read most kiwis posts and am impressed by their knowledge and open mindedness and clear and sharp thinking !!

But as I qualified above, it applies to most NZ posters on this forum ...such as ANZAC, Tim, Mox pearl, Ming, Ed, Zinzan, Shaka ... ..etc..not all :D

Last year when he opened against PAK I had no confidence in him watsoever. I thought he was going to get out every ball that was bowled to him.

Now he looks much better
Maybe he isn't any opening batsmen, he never really looked comfortable there. It a lot different batting aganist the new ball compared to the old ball.

Yeah he is not an opener.. he only ever batted there because we had no one else up to it and he continued to bat there after his century on debut against AUS.

You forgot Voltman. How could you.

That cut me deep man. Deep.

Tim and Kippax are the best IMO

Can't see Fulton making the tour to Zimbabwe if Styris & Oram return.
Vincent will almost certainly go to Zimbabwe & McMillan has an outside chance if Styris fails to recover from his injury.

Im also concerned that the selectors are eyeing Fulton as an opener after he opened for the NZ Divisional side against Sri Lanka a few weeks back.

I think NZ set up for building a solid lead , unless the new ball can get a few wickets.

A lead of even 150 plus would be substantial in the context of a game of below 400 Team scores on this pitch . Besides, the pitch I am told is starting to become difficult to score . I guess tomorrow's play will tell us the answer.

Will there be play tomorrow ? weather forecast for showers tomorrow for most of the day I am told ?

I think Fulton is just going to miss out completly. The only way he will play for NZ this year is through injury IMO. I would have to say that our batting depth is starting to look promising with some good players in and around the mix such as

Taylor, How, Fulton, Papps, Ryder, McMillan, Both Marshalls, Styris and Cumming

I'm not sure if mcmillan will make it.

Basically 10 players from this game are guaranteed a spot imo. The only missing could be mills. And if wiseman is dropped then it wil be another spinner bruce martin

So that leaves at max 5 places.

If everyone is fit then You can add Shane Bond, Jacob oram, scott styris and daniel vettori as certainties. that makes 14 in the squad.
The other one could be another wicket keeper esp if its a sa tour, or maybe another opener.

I think the NZ 'A' side to Sri Lanka will feature the likes of: Jamie How, Ross Taylor, Jesse Ryder, Peter Fulton, Graeme Aldridge, Gareth Hopkins, Jeff Wilson, Daryl Tuffey, Ian Butler etc.

Im not sure what the status is of Jeff Wilsons injury but I don't think he should be written off by NZ after nearly all the NZ players struggled against Australia.

They won't take two spinners to Africa

I think Woodcock is a chance. What do you think of him Tim?

I think they will to southafrica, bracewell likes playing 2 spinners and if there is inury to vettori they need cover.
Although I wouldn't take wiseman, I think playing no spinner is better than wiseman vs sa.

My NZ test 15 squad to Africa assuming everyone is fit

Openers..

J.Marshall
J.How/ P Fulton
H Marshall
S Fleming
Astle
Mccullum
Oram
Styris
Bond
Martin
Vettori
Franklin
Butler
B.Martin

Either How or Fulton need to step up to the opening position as they are both good back foot players and we will need that in Africa

I'd drop ...Cumming, Mills, O'Brien and Wiseman just overshadowed by B.martin

There is no point in playing a spinner if Vettori gets injured. No one is good enough

The Academy has shown an interest in Woodcock, but I haven't really seen much of him. Aaron Redmond could be a bolter for the 'A' team...

Cumming hasn't done enough to be dropped

Is Gareth Hopkins's keeping as good as his batting ? Because if it is would he be challenging Maccullum in the future , should Maccullum struggle with the bat somewhere down the line ?

Got to feel sorry for Darryl Tuffey !!
