We all don't live on the computer and it hard to get on when you have assignments coming left, right and centre

I think blaze is just trying to get up your nose, don't worry.
Just because someone doesn't come on to a forum dont mean its because their team is doing badly. People have other things to do.

Anyway I'd admit myself that posting on a forum is far more enjoyable when your team is on top or winning.

I think you mean vincent, not astle :D. Astle got a duck.

I also think srilanka are still in this game. I am still fearing a 2nd innings collapse from NZ if srilanka put up a decent target. Although to be fair we haven't really batted in the 4th innings during our slump at all, maybe we will be better if we know what we have to exactly get to win.

Who knows.

Stupid fog ended the day early. play will start half an hour earlier tommorow.
Interestingly poised match I reckon.
Always happen when u try and write a post quickly , it was Vincent i was talking about not Astle  .

NZ are clearly in front but i still think we can win this if were good enough, but the big question is this side good enough???

yes NZ really need a lead of at 180-200 to really put the lankan's under the pump.

For mine Cumming isn't quite up to test level. Surely we can find a better opening option once everyone is fit come the african/zim tour.

Im still concerned about the fact that nearly every NZ player is making a good score or taking wickets, and then in the next innings...taking no wickets or getting out below 10. There is a huge amount of inconsistency, and while we're getting away with it now..it's not going to be like that all the time.

Yeah just look at how many posts i've written on this compared to most kiwis. me and Jason are keeping this thread going, it the kiwis that have to step up not us.

Two years ago, I would have backed NZ to win this test match easily from this position..but I have doubts as to whether they could chase anything over 200 in the 4th innings at the moment.

I think they've got to stick with Craig Cumming until at least the end of the year. Bracewell believes Jamie How is still 2 or 3 years away which seems alot to me..but I think we need to have some consistency in selection until they believe How is ready.

Yeah but Tim if we can hold out till the end of this test and get away with it we shuld be alright assuming the other players regain fitness

The likes of Vettori Oram and Bond are all consistant players and we only really need the others to work around them and make sure they contirbute at least in one out of every two innings

I have the same problem with our players, Malinga roles the Kiwis in one Test and then doesn't look like taking a wicket in the next Test. Vaas is below his best in the last test and he turn up this test. Mahlea and Atapattu get centuries in one test and then play like they did yesterday, it is so frustrating.

Dead right IMO.

Although scoring slowly Cumming has lasted plenty of balls in most of his innings's to date and therefore takes the shine off the new ball quite well.

If they can work with him and stop him playing round his front pad and getting caught in front then he could be very handy

Yes I must say I find it bizarre that Malenga was far more dangerous on a flat deck with skiddy bounce than he seems on more of a seaming bouncy pitch.

Perhaps he is more suited to variable lowish bounce

Great Batting display by NZ . Vincent and Fleming have done well.

Now I don't want to be perceived as harking back to the same old...same old umpiring thing again, But I hope Darrel Hair remains consistent with regard to LBWs.

If he's made it his decision not to give even the absolute plumb ones that's fine, but I hope then he doesn't do a backflip and start giving them when SL are batting !!

I reckon there were several bloody close ones that I hope he remains consistent when SL are batting. Got to feel sorry for Vaas !

I don't believe in consistancy

The umpires treat each LBW as an indivdual case and shouldn't be influenced by previous decisions made

I think Jason expects a very high standard of umpiring, im starting to get used to below par umpiring, their is no point in having a cry about it especially when their is only a couple of umpires around the world of any standard.

Vincent i'd suggest has done enough against Aus & S.L to book a flight to Zim/S.A ahead of Craig McMillan in August.
Vincent looks much more suited to around #5 or #6. He definately looks more solid than the last time he was playing for NZ last year.

Last year when he opened against PAK I had no confidence in him watsoever. I thought he was going to get out every ball that was bowled to him.

Now he looks much better
