What worries me about Qeshile is his lack of feet movement. What I like about him is his compact technique, how still he is at the crease and the way he seems to watch the ball.

Compactness of technique is why I have the most hope for him, Breetzke and van Tonder but they all capable of turning it on within their own game plans to not allow bowlers to just bowl at you like we saw in some of the SA batsmen in the recent test series.

P.S. Add Mulder

There's way more upside in getting Linde or Maharaj into the ODI team. Both add batting and consistency. I'm fine with them giving Bjorn a go but I do like the idea of Linde at 8.

Disappointments for me in round 1

1. Lack of young genuine quick bowler in all 6 teams. (Magala, Hawken and Viljoen when he wanted to the quickest)
2. Wanted certain young batsmen to shoulder the responsibility more.

Top scorers (1-4)

1. Pieter Malan 106 (114)
2. Ryan Rickelton 92 (89)
3. Rudi Second 66 (65)
4. Rassie van der Dussen 65 (71)

Best middle to late order cameos/innings (batsmen 5 downwards)

a. Jason Smith 76 (86)
b. Prenelan Subrayen 46* (52)
c. Keshav Maharaj 43 (73)
d. Heinrich Klaasen 41 (46)
e. Wihan Lubbe 37 (28)
f. George Linde 31* (14)

Best seamers

1. Thando Ntini 9.1 4-36
2. Beuran Hendricks 8.5 4-43
3. Kerwin Mungroo 8 3-28
4. Lungi Ngidi 9 3-40
5. Dayyaan Galiem 10 2-42
6. Eldred Hawken 10 2-46

Best spinners

1. Imran Tahir 10 4-33
2. Aaron Phangiso 10 3-39
3. Keshav Maharaj 7.2 2-19
4. Shaun von Berg 10 2-31
5. Dyllan Matthews 9 2-55
6. George Linde 10 2-58
7. Tabraiz Shamsi 10 2-71

There is something I like about Mungroo, don't know why. Seems to offer something and has got a lot better recently. Hawken looks like one of those guys who have lost out to the system, better play than his number of games suggests.

And Dylan Matthews looks a real prospect. Genuine big spinner.

Mungroo has come on leaps and bounds. Watched a few interviews with him and he seems like a real hard worker. Makes sense when you see how he got into the Dolphins team considering he schooled in Ladysmith.

Ryan Rickelton 157 today to back up his score in the first round.

He always had the ability and talent to go far.

Left-arm quick, Stefan Tait, with wickets on his Warriors debuts. Recently took some wickets in the warm-up games v England.

Also first franchise 50-over 100 for Grant Roelofsen to go with his 3 in the 4-day comp. Pretty special knock here to get Dolphins to the win 147 not out with three sixes in the final over.

Also Wandile Makwetu captaining the Knights in van Biljon's absence. Ahead of van Tonder too who is a leader. Big backing for one so young.

So therefore Lions and Dolphins have started 2 of 2 whilst Knights and Titans have lost their opening 2 games. Warriors and Cobras with 1 win each.

It probably goes for both players, but wonder if they think van Tonder will get called up sooner rather than later?

Nice couple of games for Zubayr Hamza. First 100 and then a lone hand yesterday. Convinced Smith needs to do more. Janneman is pretty limited if you bowl accurately at his stumps. The bowling is getting smashed but come out with 1 win and 1 loss. Burger played last couple but been very expensive and Paterson left out last game.

Roelofsen continues to score runs for the Dolphins.

Couple of things on the provincial games on the go. I really hope Jono Bird is still injured from that last game v Afghanistan to miss out for WP today. WP team is so shite. I remember when the provincial system had players to look out for. The limited number of spots in franchise teams may have helped but there was still genuine competition pushing to get into franchise cricket.

Parsons and Manje are straight into the Gauteng side.

Couple of schoolboys playing in the Provincial games today :

Matt Fourie (Grade 12) big Selborne College fast bowler playing his 2nd game for Border
Slade van Staden (Grade 11) opening Hilton College batsmen on debut for KZN Inland
Another player to watch out for who missed out on SA u19 selection is St Andrews Bloem/Free State batting/leg-spin all-rounder Ruan Cronje who looks to have moved to KZN Coastal.

Be very difficult to believe that was not the case. Not heard anything regards Mulder either?

I always like Hamza scoring runs.

I might be wrong but I'm hoping I saw correctly that Mulder is in the Gauteng squad for the 1-day games on Sunday.

You go to a private school part of ISASA the pathway for you going to play cricket and study in England is so easy. Obviously some are UK Ancestry Visa too.

Just the last couple of years the following Hilton boys for example are in England doing that now and left SA.

1. Brandon McMullen
2. Gareth Schreuder
3. Michael Booth
4. John Turner

Others include Justin Broad & Daniel Moriarty ( Surrey) (both Rondebosch) & recent SA u19 captain Matthew Montgomery (Clifton) + St Stithians duo Richardo Vasoncelos & Brandon Glover (both Northamptonshire)
