Pity you can't go see the match Pratyush. Hopefully Sachin does well. I've never seen a Sachin ton live. Saw him make a golden duck at the boxing day test back in 2003 along with a 40 something in a second innings. Then a half-century and a single figure in two one-day matches that same season. :(

Thankfully I saw Sehwag's 195 that same day though. :D

India 16-2 with Sachin and IKP the men back in pavillion.

I'm not sure as to why IKP was send as an opener in this match?? it seems to be a joke both with the Indian team and with IKP himself. :@

I once witnessed at the ground a Sachin century, or maybe it was a double century at the SCG

this is simply ridiculous. 71-5 now. tendulkar 2 from 15, dravid 6 from 31? and we call them world-class batsmen ... i wish we could rest sachin for suresh raina for one match, maybe that would get him to play more sensibly

and what the hell was with the pathan experiment. you dont take such a big risk when you have 3 regular openers in the playing eleven and you're facing shaun pollock with a moving new ball. too much guys, too much. lets hope yuvi, kaif and dhoni can salvage india, for our "heroes" (dravid, sachin) didnt do ****.

Why the did we open Pathan? I understand how we are looking at experimentation and I'm all for Pathan up the order, but as someone said, putting up against Pollock with a new ball? I wouldn't have done it, but it didn't make that much of a difference.

Let's hope India put a better show in the final ODI to draw the series, because this game looks all over :(

TURNING POINTS SO FAR:
  • The Indian think-tank thought a little too hard and sent in Irfan Pathan to open. Maybe this was something they had in mind to shield Sachin and Sehwag, yet score runs at a brisk pace. Not too bad, but don't expect it to succeed, since this was not a flat track. He was out for ZERO in the first over, and that was a big blow to the team, since they lost a key striker without scoring.
  • Pollock and Nel bowled a hostile spell, putting Sachin and Dravid under extra pressure, as they crawled to a stage where Dravid scored 0 in 11 balls and Sachin, 2 in 13.
  • Yuvraj and Kaif led a recovery for some time, taking the team past 100. Unfortunately for India, neither lasted long enough to take them further. Dhoni's early exit left the Indian side with no striking power, and none of the others lasted long enough to take the Indian team far.
  • Smith took charge and yet again, the team's strike bowler weakness was exploited to the hilt by the openers, though Hall stood and watched.

Wow, India really floundering at 4/56 after 13
Was it a lot of grass left and dirty politics leading to a very poor act? If yes, my fear came true and the incident of Botham running through India was repeated.

The crowd cheering every thing South Africa scoring with HUGE cheers. The stadium erupted when Smith scored the ceentury.

Jackman saying that it is really amazing. Shastri saying that the crowd in Eden love their cricket and love to watch good cricket.

And it has noth ing to do with the crowds thinking on Ganguly respected commentators? 8-)

Whatever it takes!!!
I said at the start of the series that the toss would be a big factor. While I don't think either Bangalore or Kolkata were hard to bat on in the first innings, I do think that psychologically, there was an effect on the batters of both sides after having lost the toss and being inserted. I still don't think we have seen which is the better side and I am afraid we may not see that at Mumbai either. :(
