Umm that theory is still to be proven against quality sides. Without Gillespie at his best, it is very doubtful 4 pronged is good enough. If not a 5th genuine bowler, a 5th player who can fill in a few overs (like Symonds in the 2nd test) is definitely needed according to me. We disagree then on this.
So since 1995, they haven't played a quality side? - aside from playing in the subcontinent, or the Ashes.

LOL at Reg Reagan and Richie Benaud!
Yes indeed. Richie took it a little too seriously, methinks.

Going to be a very tough first session for South Africa. Those two last deliveries of the 1st over - Wow!

Lee must use it well too.

They have had Gillespie or an able pacer (like fleming) most times when they have played quality sides. I dont see Australia win consistently against quality sides with just 4 bowlers till maybe Lee or some one else performs at a very good level very consistently as things stand right now.

I do, however, have this:

Broncoman suggesting that Waugh said seamer as well, back in the Ashes thread at around the time the article was published.

I think vic_orthdox may be correct, and cricinfo simply changed their article after they realised their mistake.
Don`t worry, you`re not crazy. Waugh did indeed state Katich being a decent seam bowler and that he should be used more. :)

With these seaming conditions, you have to wonder why they picked MacGill over Bracken. :p

Ponting has dropped a sitter and I swear the Saffies haven`t played two balls convincingly back to back.

McGrath's been unlucky not to have a wicket so far, with two drops (admittedly Gilchrist's was hardly a chance). Symonds should bowl pretty well in these conditions too.

Ian Chappell saying Symonds' been able to swing the ball in every test he's played. Imagine how much he would have done had he played in swing paradise England..bloody selectors

early aggression by Kallis againts Warne, but anyway good bowling to date from Australia despite the missed oppurtunities.

 If they didn't play Watson or MacGill why the hell would they pick Symonds?

Lee = Most hated cricketer in the world Im sure.
Based on?

Great bowling from the Aussies, though they`ve been unlucky and their fielding has been too good. Lee has been on fire.

Did anyone notice the brilliant comment Mark Taylor made earlier about the Symonds delivery to Smith that kissed the edge but was called not out? "There was a sound, it was a sound of some kind."
