Did anyone notice the brilliant comment Mark Taylor made earlier about the Symonds delivery to Smith that kissed the edge but was called not out? "There was a sound, it was a sound of some kind."

He's been pretty intolerable all day. I'm pretty sure that should have been out, by the way, Smith was lucky to get away there.

Yeah I was at a shopping mall passing an electrical store and saw that ball. I thought Smith was gonna be out, on TV it looked out. I didn't see any replays though.

It wasn't a huge sound, but you could definetely hear it. There was no real obvious deviation by the ball, but the bat was a long way away from the body so there wasn't much chance of the sound being caused by something other than the bat.

Yeah, that's how I saw it...

Bowden was the umpire if I remember correctly, and in this morning's paper, 73% of the 25 contracted Australian players voted Bowden as the worst umpire in world cricket...so that statistic may have something to do with Bowden turning down the appeal...or it may not..

Sounds like the Aussies are just willing the ICC to give them a fine 8-)

What happened?
Reg kissed Richie on both cheeks when he saw him, to which Richie replied (with thanks to James90 here):

"I haven't been kissed by a man with a moustache since..."
"What? Weeks?"
"No... 74 years"

It was obvious Richie didn't really know who Reg was and he was taking it a bit serious it seemed.

I'm guessing this was found out during that poll given to Aussie players regarding various topics such as who is the most dangerous batsman, with Lara being voted the most followed by Sachin and Dravid and Flintoff voted best bowler ahead of Murali. They also had voting for their best player with Ponting being voted best batsman and Warne best bowler over McGrath. They just happened to vote Billy as the worst umpire, and Rudi was voted as the best umpire. Probably because he gives them crazy LBWs around the wicket :p

Oh, were they doing their new thing of sitting in the crowd during a break in play and he randomly came up to him?

Was it actually Matty Johns?

No no he actually went up to the commentary box and spoke with Richie and Bill. And yeah, it was actually Johns. He did a little interview at the start with Simon and then they cut to footage of him greeting all the Aussie players as they came onto the field for a warm up and then showed him in the commentary box.

Great partnership so far. 139 runs at the moment. Both Prince and Kallis playing very well.

ah well 230/3 at stumps, Australia started well but these two have finished well for SA. Dunno maybe Bracken should have played, but then again MacGill will be useful later on in the match assuming the sun comes out & the wicket becomes more spinner friendly.

On a fourth/fifth day pitch, the Aussie paceman plus Warne would 9/10 times be enough. Where you need wickets, is in the first innings, on the first day. The ground is damp, the conditions are cloudy, and it`s Bracken`s home ground. Meh!
