Another PPV, another gimmick match. It's almost like WWe think they can't survive without a gimmick match. They've also got the Royal Rumble lined up. Oh dear.

Well, it was a pretty bad PPV overall. The matches were all really average, Shelton's mum was annoying as hell and Cena won the Chamber. Edge came out after the chamber match (in which Angle and Kane were eliminated first ) and used his money in the bank title shot. Imo, this wasn't planned too long ago. Cena was getting massive boos, and they need to make him heel as soon as possible, probably by the end of Raw. Leading to an Edge vs Cena rumble title match

Exactly. That's why they needed him to drop the title, because right now, as their champion face, he's getting bigger boos then anyone I can remember. When he's heel he probably won't get boos that big, just because people hated that his stupid character was champion for so long.

I think he'd make it to Wrestlemania 22 as the champ. I think it's shaping up to be a Edge vs John Cena rematch at the Rumble, with Edge winning (my reason for thinking this is that Edge deserves his shot to carry the company for a while). Triple H and Randy Orton are my picks for the Royal Rumble though.

When a guy like Kurt Angle gets booed as WWE Champion, he gets booed because he plays his 'heel' role to perfection, raises the emotion of the crowd.

People boo John Cena (me included) because they are damn tired of his nine month WWE Title reign (which was way too long), the fact he has limited wrestling skill at all, the fact that he can score multiple wins over Kurt Angle when Kurt Angle has more pure wrestling ability in his little finger, then John Cena has in his entire body, the fact that his character has gotten really, really stale and the fan's do NOT give a damn about him and actually want him off the title. Cena = Predictability by winning matches over and over again and beating the odds over and over again, and you do NOT want that in any wrestler, let alone your Main Eventer. Predictability in WWE = Bad Business.

Cena needs a character re packaging, simple is that.

But not in the true 'face' sense, I can see Edge play that half heel/half face role to perfection or basically a true heel that gets cheered by the fans. As long as Cena loses and Edge walks out of the Royal Rumble as WWE Champion then I'm happy.

He'll probably play the Stone Cold face type role. Meaning he won't be the traditional good guy like Cena was trying to be, but will just go about his business in his own way. And if Cena is a proper heel, it won't matter that much if Edge isn't a huge face.

Gawd, I hope they give him someone top drawer to work with, cos I don't think he can carry a ME feud by himself. He needs a HBK or Angle to baby step him into being a champion. Unfortunately I don't see Cena out of the title picture just yet

I've just got this horrible feeling that Vince only gave Edge the title to get some heat off Cena. Just a bit of a breather while he re-invents himself and gets back over then BAM, we get a title change and Cena's headlining Mania.

It also gives Vince a chance to see how Edge handles the pressure of being top-dog and allows us to see if he can handle the heat in the future when some of the big-boys move on.

I've heard some people predicting a one-night reign, like Kane's back in the day, but surely Vince has more sense than that. It'd totally bury Edge and leave his MITB win looking useless.
