Another Hell in the Cell for a pay per view, there was a time when a hell in a cell match was the stuff of legend and history. Now its used every two months

Yeah I'll say, Hell in a Cell has lost all it's charm. WWE is losing it's charm fast, and really the writer hacks in the back aren't making things any better. They are a shell of their former selves and the quality of shows has really, really dropped.

I'm interested to see other posters views on John Cena. Personally speaking I can't stand the guy and he's been champ for far too long, overcoming just about every possible odd thrown at him. Seriously I think it's time for a new champion, hopefully Kurt Angle.

2005 was one of the worst years in WWE History. Chris Jericho, Steve Austin and Christian Cage all left the promotion and Eddie Guerrero tragically passed away. We got two 'wrestling impaired' champions in Batista and Cena and further crap such as the JR skit and the never ending saga of Randy Orton and the Undertaker....not to mention the Boogyman.

Here's what I'm hoping will happen in 2006:

1. TNA growing even more and becoming some sort of threat for WWE.
2. Chris Jericho and RVD returning at the Rumble and both being pushed as main eventers.
3. Cena losing for once.
4. Kurt Angle and Triple H in the WWE title bout at Wrestlemania 22
5. Chris Benoit winning the World Heavyweight Championship and dedicating it to Eddie Guerrero on Smackdown.
6. Inducting Eddie Guerrero into the 2006 Hall of Fame
7. Some better quality writing.
8. Awareness and focus on the 'sports' aspect, rather than the 'entertainment'.

Sadly I think I'm dreaming and all of this won't happen, but I'll remain optimistic.

I doubt any of that will happen, Cena to be blunt really ****es me off and i hate how some superstars are just given the world championship belt for a long time without earning it. Having a long run with a belt isnt always bad, its better than changing every week but i do agree, the writing is terrible now. The writers continue to involve Undertaker in Hell in a Cell matches, reducing how special they used to be.

Even though WWE have had a bad year, they will still be dominant with no one else competing against them as TNA cant really be compared yet.

After the WCW "invasion" a few years ago, i've thought that WWE has gotten worse and worse.

Well my little rant is done

You know what? That's exactly right. They'll STILL be dominant, because they've got no competition. Then they'll give themselves a pat on the back and still think there the best damn thing since sliced bread, even though their producing some of the worst quality shows in recent memory.

But since they are the monopoly, it's easy to ignore all the signs of poor booking and poor shows, and still think they're the number one game in town. The entire industry needs legitimate competition, otherwise it'll die out.

Although I agree with you, that WWE has been relatively poor since 2001/2002, there have been some highlights and I thought Wrestlemania XX with that brilliant Benoit/Eddie celebration at the end was one of the greatest moments I've ever seen.

Cena is pathetic. Everything he does makes me cringe, and I really hope Angle is given the title within the next couple of months. As for HHH with a title, the guys won it 10 times! That's gotta be a WWF/E record, and despite being a good character, he doesn't deserve that many world titles.

I, for one, am against Eddie's induction into the HoF this year. Nothing against the guy, he was one of my favorite entertainers, but there is a name that blocks his entry into the HoF.

Owen Hart.

Think about it, Owen died, in a WWF ring, performing a stunt he was asked to do by the company, and he still hasn't been inducted yet. And I think it's only fair if the E holds off on the Eddie induction until the whole of the Hart family is in.

RVD was CRAZY over during the Invasion, if he's handled properly, he could be a major, major main event player. But I think his return should co-incide with one more thing that could change the direction in which WWE is heading.

Paul Heyman should be given the book.

Remember the days when the Smackdown Six were putting on awesome matches, week after week? Remember the Angle/Lesnar storyline? That was the time when Smackdown was actually putting on better shows than Raw. The SmackDown resurgence was all due to Paul Heyman's writing, and I think he's the one to stop this mundane and Hollywoody crap the writer monkeys are putting out right now.

Oh, one more thing. I can't believe what I'm hearing about the Tim White skit.

I agree with the fact that Eddie is a lock to get into the Hall of Fame in the future, but I guess that was my opinion in that he should get into the 2006 Hall of Fame. I'll just leave it at that, and personally I'd want Eddie in for the Hall of Fame in 2006.

Ahh, good old Paul Heyman. The man is a wrestling genius, and yes Smackdown in 2002/2003 was so much fun. Who knows what's going on behind the scenes, but more creative power for Paul Heyman = Better WWE Product.

RVD, yep we agree, great talent, if used accurately he can be a major star player. I don't really know about the Tim White skit as I didn't purchase Armaggedon, as I'm in Perth right now and I don't have Foxtel down here in my temporary Perth accomidation. But I doubt I would've purchased it anyway if I was in Melbourne.

Yeah, I didn't really say I wanted Triple H to win the title. I'd want to have the title on Kurt Angle as soon as possible. But I do want a Wrestlemania 22 match for the WWE Title with Kurt Angle vs Triple H, and of course I'd have Kurt Angle picking up the victory.

He's currently booking OVW, which is ridiculous.

Well they don't have many options as to who else they can give it to. And RVD i think has always been seen by WWE as an intercontinental player, instead of a Heavyweight player. Wierd

2. Chris Jericho and RVD returning at the Rumble and both being pushed as main eventers.
RVD's coming back at the Rumble isn't he? I reckon an IC reign could be on the books, especially if as reported he's back in Steph and Shane's good books. He won't get anywhere near the ME on Raw, so maybe a move back to Smackdown might do him some good?

Jericho won't ever be a serious main eventer while Trips is around. Sad but true. Regardless I think he's lost the 'IT' factor he had circa 2000/01 that made him such an endearing character.

3. Cena losing for once.
I don't think it's happening mate, they've invested so much money into making him the face of their company and into his rap career they're not gonna let him drop the belt unless he's turned on huge by the fans.

4. Kurt Angle and Triple H in the WWE title bout at Wrestlemania 22
Yes please!

5. Chris Benoit winning the World Heavyweight Championship and dedicating it to Eddie Guerrero on Smackdown.
Would be sensational but Benoit looks stuck in mid-card for a while doing so-so programs with guys like Orlando and the Book man. A bigger bet would be Rey winning the gold and dedicating it to Eddie. He's so over and so versatile it'd be special.

6. Inducting Eddie Guerrero into the 2006 Hall of Fame
Yep, add the Hitman to that too.

7. Some better quality writing.
I don't see how we could go any lower than some of the crap we've had this year. Then again Vince only hires yes-men for his writing team so the more senile he goes the worse the storylines may become.

Welcome back duffer! :)

You were missed on this thread mate. Thanks for your honest opinions, and I reckon you've summed it up pretty well. Regarding RVD, I think he'd make an awesome IC Champion and if they open him up like the olden days, he could really add a lot of prestige for the IC Championship much like his days in ECW when he made the ECW TV Title more special than the World Title.

Unfortunate for Jericho, but I'm not really aware of all this 'heat' between Triple H and Jericho. On the numerous programs they've had in the past, Jericho has considered and stated in interviews Triple H to be one of his 'best' opponents and considers him a 'professional'. I'm not sure if this was diplomacy on Jericho's part, but I'm sure even Triple H realises that a fully fit and raring Jericho has so many rewards for the WWE. Lets hope he comes back! I've missed Jericho a lot.

I think Benoit winning the World Title again would be so special, especially since even very casual fans know somewhat of the special bond between Chris and Eddie. Despite Mysterio deserving of the Title and being over, I just think Benoit winning would be just an awesome thing. Maybe in a 6 man battle royal for the Championship or even perhaps something like a 6 man Armageddon Hell in a Cell match. Benoit vs Rey are the sole survivors for the Championship, both wearing EG armbands.....I'm sorry, I think I've gone too far :p

Yep, Eddie, Bret and Owen hopefully in the Class of 2006 for the WWE Hall of Fame.

Nice to have you back duffer.

Have they even mentioned Eddie since the tribute shows?

When Owen and Pillman died, they were never mentioned again after the tributes. I'd be surprised if Vince let someone win the title and dedicate it to Eddie, since he wouldn't even let Benoit and Mysterio, Jr. work an Eddie tribute show in Mexico.

Cheers for the welcome mate. Been a bit busy but i'll be posting here more in the coming weeks.

The thing about Triple H is that he holds a lot of stroke in WWE and with Vince no matter what they try and spin doctor us into believing. It's pretty much certain that Vince will pass down booking responsibilites to Trips and Steph when he retires with Shane taking over the administrative side of things in the company so I dare say he has quite a bit to do with storylines and pushes now, such as his mate Batista getting such a protected push and title run.

This 'heat' between Trips and Jericho stems from Y2J's Undisputed Title run where Trips and a few others(ie HBK and the rest of the Kliq) didn't believe he had shown he was capable of carrying the promotion. It's not that he doesn't think Jericho is worthwhile to the promotion but he just doesn't believe he can be an ME regular, but is more suited to the upper mid-card or putting over up and comers. I actually agree with him too, because for all of Jerichos persnoality and charisma he is pretty inconsistent in the ring and can fluctuate from amazing inside the ring to looking like he was going through the motions.

Same thing with Booker T, even though many think he should've gone over at Mania, Trips didn't think he had the ability or the marketability to be top dog and judging by how much Booker has declined recently he was probably right there too. Trips knows the industry very well and his monicker of "The Game" is more than just a gimmick, it's just how he uses his influence to push hi mates over more deserving characters at the time which induces the blood curdles. Thankfully he looks like he now wants to pass the torch to some of the younger guys and is happy to be working the mid-card.

Benoit winning it again would be special and fitting for Eddie, personally though I'm just curous as how the WWE would be able to use a guy like Rey at the highest level. He'd be an intriguing champion and just as emotional for him to win it for Eddie. Just my opnion though.

Hope everyones enjoying their Xmas and has a great New Years!!

Stephanie's already head of creative.
