Jonathan Agnew is guessing that Hair may have given the match to England because Pakistan refused to come out after tea and that in the rules a team can be timed out after 2 minuites.
Basically when the umpires came out and removed the bails, they were ending the match and giving it to England. (which is within the rules).

Now i think we have everyone trying to talk the umpires (read: Hair) around to cancel that decision and restart the match.

Yes, but surely in that case a reserve umpire should be used, so the lack of an umpire can't hold up the game? The decision whether anyone has forfeit the game needs to be done by both umpires.
I presume Doctrove is showing solidarity with Hair but according to the media sources Sky and BBC Hair is the driving force and is refusing to come out and umpire.

Restart the match for what reason? It's a forfeit. This is ridicoulus. There should be no reason to go back and discuss this with the pakistanis and restart the match. It's been going on for 45 mins for gods sake

Yeah it would look a bit poor on Doctrove's part if he went out on his own with a reserve umpire.. Think he and hair would want to be seen as working together

The rammifications of this could be gargantuan..

We essentially have an umpire making a decision, right or wrong, but he's been completely over ruled by the players.. We are seeing the birth of player power here, and the consequences could change the face of cricket..

What next, we don't want to play seven ODI's in India therefore shall go on strike for two of them?.. This could be the biggest issue since Cronjegate
Um, they didn't walk out because they didn't like a LBW decision. Why should a team play after they've been publically humiliated by an umpire who said that they are cheats?

Remember when England where wanting not to go to Zimbabwe. ICC made threats of Expulson and $10 million plus fines. I wonder if and what Pakistan's punishment will be?

I have to say that the Pakistanis have forfeited the moral high ground here. Their grievance may be genuine, but it isn't fair to the crowd or the spirit of the game to attempt to ride roughshod over the umpires. Hair may be wrong (I'll go so far as to say he is), but their actions are nothing short of outrageous, worse because it's calculated & not in the heat of the moment.

A beacon of sanity among the apocalypse...

This is a joke, I find myself hoping that Pakistan get the roughest reception possible if/when they enter the field of play.

Surrey chief executive Paul Sheldon confirms that the umpires are refusing to come out. Match referee Mike Procter is apparently in the umpires' room, deep in talks with Hair and Doctrove.

Let me paraphrase Mike Atherthon: "The decision Hair made in the context of things was wrong. We have upwards of 26 cameras and we don't miss much"

If I was the captain of a team, and I felt that my team was unfairly targetted...I would not wait until the tea break to march right out and forfeit the match.
Perhaps inzi wanted to make sure nobody did anything before marching off and then making a goose of himself
