***Official*** Pakistan in England

The Wheel is Forever
Sky are now reporting an unconfirmed rumour that Darrell Hair is now saying that if Pakistan take the field, he won't.

It's all very sad, and very messy.

"It sums up the ICC for me," says Nasser Hussain on Sky. "They talk about irrelevant things. You've got a major sporting issue here at The Oval, surely Mike Procter sits down with the main people and says, "Right what's going on?" Do it behind the scenes and get a decision made and this would stop all these ridiculous scenes of players going up and down stairs."

I don't blame them for not coming out to be honest.

I don't care what happened, you cannot hold the game of cricket to ransom for any reason other than player safety. It makes a dirty precedent for player power and them spitting the dummy over things they don't like until they get their own way.

He can't make that decision on his own! Both umpires need to agree about that.

Idiot.
Hair can also make the decision not to come out and umpire by himself.

Darrel Hair, the biggest ******** in the history of test cricket.

God Hair is an annoying idiot.

Jonathan Agnew is guessing that Hair may have given the match to England because Pakistan refused to come out after tea and that in the rules a team can be timed out after 2 minuites.

Wasn't there an English umpire - Arthur Fagg I think it was - who refused to take the field once? I think he came out after a couple of overs though.

Sorry, playing the game after being called a cheat is pathetic. They should have left right away, but they waited until the tea breaks and thought with calmer heads. Thats more patience than I would have had.
Surely you discuss this out of the game time, during Tea breaks and end of play. You dont just pick up your ball and go home.

This has now turned into a battle of wills. Hair vs Pakistan, whos your money on? :D i have a feeling they'll probably turn Hair around and we'll be out playing normally later today or tomorrow.

You can do that if a decision goes against you. Not after you are labeled a cheat.

Surely only the batsman can be 'timed out', not the whole fielding side.

They need to call off play for today and sort it out with the ICC.

No matter what the outcome for this is, this Pakistan need to get a penalty. This is stupid, playing time is being wasted...Pakistanis can curse all they want at the umpires after the match.

It's not often I disagree with you mate but you're being short-sighted because you don't like Hair.

It's like saying that the umpires aren't in charge here, the players are. The longer this goes on, the more pathetic I think it is. If they didn't like it, they should have stayed off instead of looking like they were spitting the dummy until they got their own way. Full stop.

Yes, but surely in that case a reserve umpire should be used, so the lack of an umpire can't hold up the game? The decision whether anyone has forfeit the game needs to be done by both umpires.

The rammifications of this could be gargantuan..

We essentially have an umpire making a decision, right or wrong, but he's been completely over ruled by the players.. We are seeing the birth of player power here, and the consequences could change the face of cricket..

What next, we don't want to play seven ODI's in India therefore shall go on strike for two of them?.. This could be the biggest issue since Cronjegate
