**Official** Pakistan in Australia Thread

I think there have been many positives to come out of this tour. The young openers have shown some spunk this match, Asim looks to be a gutsy player with some talent, Kaneria has stamped himself as world class and they have some up and coming players notably the keeper who could do well in the future. If there are some consistent selections and some nuturing, the Pakistan team could be a real force in a couple of years. They need another one or two class bowlers though.
can someone please tell me what kamal was doing out of the side for the 1st 2 tests??

I have no idea. He was so good against India -- in fact, probably the only batsman to really impress (aside from inzy).

On another note, we had two LBW's this innings that visibly pitched outside leg - IMO, technology can't really resolve this particular problem... But come on guys, let's get these basics right (can't remember if they were both Shepherd or not). Other than that, I think the umpiring hasn't been too bad, even if the press are over-adamant that Watson was caught off the bump-ball call.

.

C_C might disagree with you on this one because both LBWs were shown to be pitched on leg stump by hawkeye and he says that it is 100% correct.

Unless you are saying that it is biased towards Australia.

I watched the replays, and with the strip showing on the replay, they clearly pitched outside leg.

And I have never believed in Hawkeye's accuracy in terms of whether a ball would have hit the stumps or not - which is not to say that I'd claim that the technology is "biased" towards a particular team (and that's a ridiculous allegation for you to make).

I don't know what on earth C_C's opinion has to do with mine - I can see that you're obsessed with him, but it's completely irrelevant to what I said.

On channel nine it clearly showed the ball pitching on the line of leg stump turning back and taking leg/middle stump, thats what I saw and thats what the umpire adjudged. Cant complain about that.

I guess I (and I'm far from the only one) saw them differently - but given your history of bullsh*tting, I can't even be sure you actually SAW the replays.

Anyhow, I have no idea why I'm being dragged into your petty battle with C_C - it has nothing to do with me, and I couldn't be less interested. Seriously.

I guess when you have been proven wrong the only thing you can resort to is to try abuse to cloud the issue while you slink back from what you say.

Much healthier looking scorecard for the Pakistani's, still needs a lot of improvement, but a good last game.

Kamal is indeed a very good player, and it seems hard-working as well. I feel due to the usual internal-politics of pak cricket, this fella isn't picked that often

He should be 1st in the list infact

Nah, I'd put him at 4. Youhanna 3 and Inzi 5.

I think you missed his point, he doesnt mean that he should open, but should be first selected
I guess the word "list" might have thrown me.

whats even worse is that hes been sent back home after the series instead of being part of their ODI squad.

..and from what I know, he is quite needy as well. Has a sick mother or father and cricket is his only means or something like that. I heard abt this during India tour, could be a rumour or his situation has improved

Fair enough on Asim, i like him and think he has a good future. Kaneria showed promise but can't be labelled as class-act on the basis of one series. His big test will be against Indian against whome he has failed badly in past.

And i think the Pak keeper is very poor with both bat and gloves.

Kaneria needs to work on his another task in the team, ie batting, by gradually getting tips, advice and practice he will become better able to handle anything and help his team in the batting department. At the moment, I would not trust him staying at the crease for length to support the other person.

I thought i was the only one who thought that kamal should be a regular member of Pak test team (and maybe even tried in onedayers)

Not at all. The reason as to why this fellow was dopped was because Pak think tank doesn't realise the impotance of SPECIALIST players in test matches and prefers going in with allrounders, as such bits and pieces players like Razzak and Malik gets the nod at the expense of a specialist batsman. You will have a hard time figuring out the last time Pak went into a test match with 6 specialist batsmen. Now in the comming series against India, Pak will again be tempted to play Malik in place of either Kamal or Younis just coz Malik can bowl a bit!

Interestingly Pak has dropped Kaneria from the comming oneday series, even though he was the best of the lot in the test series. The selection committee wanted to retain him but the captain and the coach thought otherwise.I think both Inzi and Woolmer are dumb (especially when Pak have just one wkt taking bower in Akhter in the team)

Cricinfo attributes Razzaq's mytery illness to a spinach addiction. Quite unusual addiction. Never heard of an addiction to it.
