Thanks for posting this. IMO, Gilchrist's easily saved and won far too many matches (in both formats) for Australia for him to be accused of being a fair-weather player that cashes in on great Aussie starts.
It does show something that.

Makes him almost their equivalent of Thorpe - when the team's in a bit of a hole, he'll score runs, but not so likely when they're well ahead?

Out of interest, which of those do people rank as his best?

I guess when you have been proven wrong the only thing you can resort to is to try abuse to cloud the issue while you slink back from what you say.
How apt that you would post that following your history on here.

His big test will be against Indian against whome he has failed badly in past.
And there was me thinking that the biggest test of a player was against the best side in the world.

I thought i was the only one who thought that kamal should be a regular member of Pak test team (and maybe even tried in onedayers)
ive been advocating picking him for both forms of the game since that ind-pak series. i find it hard to believe that someone averaging 40 is dropped from the side for absolutely no reason, let alone the fact that he seems to be the most dedicated member of the side.

pakistan have an alright team. in future if they choose a similar squad i'd go for:

butt
hameed
khan
youhana
inzamam
kamal
akmal
sami/khalil
asif
akhtar
kaneria

The problem is that akhtar is so volatile/unpredictable when it comes to injury, that if they go in with only four bowlers they run a huge risk of finishing with just 3. He should never have played in this third test.

i also have to say that it was poor form by channel 9 to not bother showing the presentations. very disappointing.

Considering pakistan were missing inzamam, razzaq, malik, gul, shabbir, saqlain, taufeeq(no idea why he wasnt picked) and moin pakistan didnt do to badly in the last two tests. This would be my future line up for tests

Butt
Taufeeq/Hameed
Younis khan
Inzi
Youhana
Kamal/hasan raza
Kamran akmal/Moin/Zulqernain(promising u19 WK)
Gul
Shabbir
Shoiab akhtar
Danish

On another note, we had two LBW's this innings that visibly pitched outside leg
Sorry, but I've just seen the highlights a few hours ago and no they didn't IMO.

It worries me that the Aussies are so good and my hopes for the Ashes are fast diminishing.

i thought Danish bowled well :) apart from some loose deliveries that let him down

Question to the Aussies, did you find the team playing to their potential or Pak bowling/game were really good at times?

Australia won, but were you REALLY convinced or wanted to see better (Sorry to ask this question, as Auzzies are winning all the time; we have to compare their winning performaces)

If I were an Australian 8-), I would be a lot more than just satisfied. Bad performance from Pakistan. But then it were Australia's good batting and bowling that had a hand in making it bad...

About the "abuse" and slinking away from what you say - you're kidding, right? I have to echo Marc's comments: that's pretty damned ironic coming from you.

And I'm not slinking away from what I've said at all - IMO, from the replays I saw yesterday, the balls pitched outside leg. Yasir's was close, but I thought Rana's was comfortably wide of it, looking at the overlay. Having said that, I'm not so invested in this that I would exclude the possibility that I was wrong. But that's what I saw.
