Why can't you ever give credit to the Pakistanis ? They have certainly played very well so far.
Obviously they have played well to reach 198. I was jus pointing out the fact that the wicket is so batting friendly that Pak bowlers would struggle against the great Aussie batters.

Frankly, things arent that bad between Pakistanis and Indians living in their respective home countries. Somehow, those living abroad seem to become more patriotic.

Also, due to the baggage of history and the prejudices brought on by al the negative conditioning from hearing family and friends speak about the 'hated enemy' the moment they start arguing, it invariably becomes personal and brings out the worst in both.

Its difficult to say whether it is more tragic or more stupid or more laughable or more childish. One would have thought that the generation born to parents who were brought up after the partition would be less affected by this insane affliction but I suppose the politicians and the religious leaders on both sides will not allow this to happen and we will contimue to be willing pawns in their game , nay, their business.

Thank God, their are more and more sane voices being heard above the cacophony of hatred spewing bigotry of the hardliners on both sides. These hardliners are responsible for keeping their country and its people mired in the middle ages and while the saner voices struggle to bring the light of tolerance.

Well said SJS...bit too have heavy for young blood (15) - cricketplayer

Hats off to Hayden for dropping two vital catches of Salman and skipper Youhanna.Had those catches been taken then Austrlia would have bowled out pakistan to a much smaller score.

I'm still hopefull for Australia to bowl out Pakistan for a score of 300-350.There is not much batting left after Youhanna and Younis, Razzak and Malik is all that Pak have after them.

Why is it shameful to lose to Pakistan at home ? They too lost to us at home earlier this year.

Coming to the match itself, India scored nearly 300 runs when they batted, surely that is not a disgrace ? So for half the match we were doing well.

Then Salman Butt, Shoaib Malik and Inzi batted superbly to take Pakistan to victory. Where is the disgrace in this ?

We lost to the side that played better on the day. Should Pakistan have lost after playing better than us ?

Stop looking at the game through the narrow prism of Pakistan-India rivalry and you will enjoy it for the great sport that it is. Be grateful to the cricketers of India and Pakistan for providing us with spectacularly close encounters so often when they meet each other. Of course root for India(or Pakistan if you support them), as I do too, but if they fight well and still lose on a day, enjoy the game for thats what it is at the end of the day. Grow up to realise that.

Maybe so. But it is at this age that prejudices need to be weeded out.

Also , Pakistanis need to stop dragging India in every thread. This thread is about Australia and Pakistan! Its not India's fault that Pakistan is not doing much on this tour.

Its not so much hatred against each other as much as hatred towards each other's team. Pakistan's problems with India in the past has turned the two cricket teams possibly the biggest cricketing rivals in the history of the sport, it can be a good thing, as long as the fans from both sides behave, which they normally, but not always, do.
Its not much diffrent than the Bears-Packers rivalry (American football) where all Bears fans hate everything to do with packers (myself included, damn Brett Favre). And just like Pak-India teams, both teams bring out their best stuff while playing each other.

I guess all I'm trying to say is that, can't we just treat this rivalry as the greatest traditional rivalry between two sports teams instead of nationalistic crap.

I don't think many Pak fans drag India into threads. Infact, the first post I read about Indians trashing on Pak team too much was by an English fan.

Waqar Younis is crossing into dangerous territory now. The golden rule of Aussie commentary is never interrupt Richie while he's talking.

Richie: "Well-"
Waqar: "WEEELL PLAYED YOUSUF YOUHANA! That's a good hundred!"

Does anybody else get confused when he says "excellent" because it sounds like "accident"? Half the time I think he says "That's an accident shot!" when a half-volley is crunched for four.

Congrats to Youhana on his 12th ODI century!!!

He's only 19 runs away from his 4000th run in 90 innings. That 47.82 ave is gonna get better as well.

Really. I dont see this, what goes on here between some people as anything like a part of a great traditional rivalry. Do you see the Aussies and English at each others throats with the ferocity that some subcontinental fans show? Even when they are not playing ? Have you seen how some people trash the players from the percieved enemy country even when doing a harmless fun excercise as nominating a world XI ? The Ashes rivalry is a great traditional rivalry. Learn from the conduct of the fans of those countries and then we will see.

I must hasten to say, that all fans, on both sides, are not equaly fanatic and what I say is not aimed at each and every Indian or Pakistani fan.

I am an Indian fan and one of my greatest thrills is when India beats Pakistan. It is always a great moment, but if India plays well and still loses, I am disappointed but its not the end of the world and does not stop me from appreciating Pakistani performances.

Trashing the Indian players for losing (or the Pakistanis for beating them) or calling a loss to Pakistan as a shame for Indians (or vice-versa)...well that is no great traditional sports rivalry. It stinks of something much worse than sport or anything connected to it.

Aren't you getting a bit ahead of yourself? The man only has 10 ODI centuries! :p

Getting ahead of myself? Perhaps....even though he only has 12 centuries, the 47.82 ave is no joke. I know it doesn't make him the greatest, but 4000 runs in 55 tests would be quite an accomplishment IMO.

Watching him play has always got me excited. Wait a sec, that didn't sound right. lol
